How do you get out of a blue mood.

Today I'm feeling blue. It's snowing outside, on it's way to freezing rain they're saying so I'm stuck inside. I'm just not in a very good mood and I am having a hard time getting myself out of it.
What do you do when you're feeling down and you want to feel better?

Even though we live far apart, we are in the same boat. I am stuck in the house too with the threat of an ice storm on the way. I am going to start washing windows and sorting piles of neglected mail soon. I think this weekend I may paint my bedroom. Usually if I keep myself busy and try to make my house look nice it lifts my spirits. If that does not work try chocolate. It can't hurt!

The first thing I do, especially when the weather is bad, is turn on quite a few lights. Seasonal Affective Disorder is a problem for me on these gray, dreary days when it is raining or snowing outside. I try to find things that will hold my interest. Sometimes a good movie or a good book will do it. I make sure I am curled up, warm, and I have comfort things around me, like a teddy bear, popcorn, something to drink, things that give me comfort or satisfaction. I try to avoid looking outside, too. Nothing can make that blue feeling worse than looking outside at yucky weather. I try to avoid the news and daytime television as that can get repetitious and monotonous. If I am reading, I'll turn the television off completely and put on some soothing music. If I happen to fall asleep, then I fall asleep. I will make comfort food for dinner such as beef stew or chili. These are some of the things I do. Hopefully, they can be of assistance to you, too.

Those are wonderful suggestions. Thanks very much. Just reading these things certainly makes me feel better. A nice warm cup of herbal tea does sound very comforting right now. I agree with keeping the television off other than a movie that I would feel like watching. Perhaps I'll try The Prestige. I did wake extremely early this morning, a nap may do the trick. I'll see what happens.
