Ok , this may be strange but theres a guy at our workplace who brings in fish for his lunch every tuesday and puts it in the microwave for about 5 minutes! At the end of this the stink can be smelled right through the workplace and its sooo bad. He covers the fish with milk as he says it keeps the smell down but it just adds to the waft.
This guy almost gets the canteen to himself on a Tuesday as no-one else can stand it. The ming can last all day.
Is this acceptable or is fish a home food only?
Whats with the milk? Have you guys heard of that one?

ack! fish can be so odorous especially to some people with sensitivities. It seems a bit inconsiderate of the co-worker. Does he not cover the dish it is being heated in? I never heard of the milk trick, but the idea of it turns my stomach all the more. What kind of fish does he cook that it has such a strong and lingering odor? 5 minutes seems a long time, it must be fish jerky by the time he eats it? Also, tieing up the microwave for 5 minutes is in my opinion a little rude, as others may wish to use it too (even if it did not leave their food tasting like fish) I think if it can not be reheated within 1 min or so it should not be taken for a meal, unless it is something everyone else will be sharing with you.

I dont know whats with the milk but its not acceptable where I work. If you choose to bring food in to eat and it eminates an offensive odor you can be asked to leave the cafeteria and/or reprimanded by management.

Maybe it is a cunning ploy to get the cafeteria to himself!
