There are a lot of things that affect the numbers in the stars. Since it's based on how other people rate you, if you're not getting many good ratings then people might just not be liking your replies. Once you make more friends it will probably go up.
My star had a 9 in it when I was at 100, if I remember right. I always only really reply to topics that I've very interested in and have a real opinion on, and my posts are usually fairly long and detailed. I'm not sure exactly what influences how people rate me, because all people are different.
If it makes you feel any better, I think most people don't put too much stock in what the stars say. I always see people complaining that their star number went down after a controversial discussion, so I think most people are aware that some people don't always rate fairly. As long as you do your best, I'm sure you will meet people who want to talk to you more, and be taken seriously.

Like the last person said, the number in your star depends on how people rate you. You should request lots of other members to join your friends list as these will help you to earn and will also rate you. I will give you another plus to help raise your rating and hopefully you will see a change very shortly.
