what makes you respond there are so many different topics discussed and i just wondered what made people want to respond. what types of discussion do you enjoy or not enjoy. i respond to discussions that interest me or that make me want to state an opinion whether it be in agreement or anger... what about you

It may not an area of my interest, but it is definitely an area where I have something worth sharing, ie. only if I feel my response will be of value to the poser. And yes, I just pick any random topics from recent dicussions for a start :p

I respond to topics which arouse my interest. They are usually on food, health, hobbies, science, parenthood...now, I believe they are quite plentiful. There are times though, when I find that there aren't much to respond to that needs sharing my ideas with. It must be my mood for the hour because there are always plenty to choose from among the topics offerred. Some of mylot clientele must have in some way, experienced this, too. I mean, the moods.

I respond to discussions for a variety of reasons which include, life experiences, anything to do with mylot that I find interesting, children or parenting, questions that make me think, advise if I have had similar experiences, encouragement. I like the discussions that require me to think for a few minutes prior to responding.
Welcome to mylot, I wish you much success here. :)

At first I responded to anything I could get 3 lines out of without sounding like an idiot. Now, there are some topics I just brush through and they don't catch my interest. I do want to get as many done as I can but I am liking the interaction too. I like to write an opinion that matters to me. Thank you for this topic it's a good one.

For me, it must be a topic of interest and I must have something to say.
I quite dislike those discussions set in the style of exam papers, to be honest. E.g. Explain what is a black hole.
Or short short short 1-liners. :P
