Have you ever watched a dragonfly?

Every Thursday we would go to a friend's house to hang out around the pool. He was there to tan and drink beer, I was there to commune with nature and listen to them, they were funny. One day, mid July, we were basking on the deck. He was telling a no sh** I was there story, we all shared the same hobby. As his story began I was gazing out over the pool, I noticed a dragonfly hovering over the center of the pool, most of his body was the same color as the pool liner, that really pretty blue. His head was green, bright green and he blended into the background of the pool.
As I watched he took off, fast, made a big semi circle and went back to the same spot he had been in. I realized he was using the pool for camoflauge. It was so cool. I watched him for a long time.

I grew up in a province here in the Philippines and one of my childhood lovely memories is going to small forests or lakes and watch some beautiful plants and animals you can hardly see in the city. There were quite a few colorful butterflies, small birds, and of course the cute dragonflies... it's really fun to look at especially when they hover in the lake, and much more when they come in groups. I just love the beauty of nature I enjoyed in the province.

I hardly see them here, but when I do I'm amazed by their light and bizarre structure and shiny colors, I find them to be very beautiful, but I keep my distance as I don't think I'd like it so much if it got too close, it's like some bugs, they look fascinating and have cool attributes, like some colorful spiders but I like to observe from a safe distance even if it is harmless. Lol.
