Materially, no. Except in cases where we are really required to give something. When i was still studying, our teachers are fund of requiring us to bring old clothes or canned goods that are to be distributed to the less fortunate. We'll get additional grade in return. Technically, it is a form of sharing but its like mandatory. I really believe that when you give, you wholeheartedly and without expecting anything in return. I've always wanted to do that but i want it to be non-traditional. Whenn i say traditional, giving old clothes, food, toys, etc. During college, i had this subject were we do charitable acts by teaching the less fortunate kids. I enjoyed it so much that it made me cry on our last day. I really missed the children and their happy faces. That's what i wanted to do now. Give service to kids. But given my schedule, its quite impossible as of the moment. =)

I give to a society that aids people in need. They are very good at what they do and I happen to know that the money collected is kept in our area. I don't give a lot just one hour of my pay per month but I feel good about being able to give

There are so many ways to give in the world. I think we need to think about this all the time. We can give through organized groups or on our own. I do both; I really try to give locally with food drives to our local food pantry. And sometimes it just happens spontaneously. Last year, at a restaurant that we go to often, we brought Christmas presents for one of the workers who told us that she could not afford gifts for her kids (she probably only makes minimum wage). She was really surprised. I also think that every time you order coffee or get lunch, you should always put a little something in the tip jar. Those folks who work in very small shops really don't make much. I think it's really nice to give spontaneously when you see the need. It may not always be a big amount or item, but if you give if from your heart, it will be received that way.
