ok that is just wild, some of that i knew about the economy and population stuff but and the technical info but the rest is just daaaaaaaaaamn. looks like orions arms has it right. there seems to be only 2 or three questions to posit in the face of this. first nano tech, we are rapidly and if this speed of technical advancement comes as fast as they say it is we will have nano technology by the time i hit 40. second AI's if computers get fast enough to outprocess us then they are infact smarter then us all that is required is time to get information which is rapidly decreasing. will we get nano tech before AI this one is a biggie because if we DONT get nano tech before AI we could be in for a grey goo hell of a time. if we do get AI first it may not save us either it may decide we are a virus and our numbers need to be culled to be either wiped out completly or better managed. finally in the face of both of these the final question do we as a species really want to risk either and if we do were gonna have to be really careful about these things. one last thing FYI a 16 bit quantum computer is already operational, we may be faceing computers able to out think us in the next year or 5 never mind 2013
