relations in freinds

i have heard and everybody says that every boy should have a good and true girl friend then only that you can tell everything to each other but it should be only freindship and not love...as every girl dont tell all the things to her girl freind and every boy is not telling everything to his boyfriend so they a boy and girl should be good freinds. What do you think is it true ?? or not
