In my younger days, movies and TV shows like Star Wars, Battle-star Galactica, Star Trek, etc. just mesmerized me! I'm still a big Star Wars fan, even today, creeping rapidly up on my 40th birthday.
I doubt we'll see the kind of space travel such as that we saw in these shows, but I do believe that someday space travel quite possibly will be very similar.
I also believe that more and more space stations will be constructed, thus bringing us (and others?) even closer to a very much expanded means of space travel.
If only we (alive today) could see this type of expansion in our lifetimes
;^)

by 2015 we'll have a spacecraft passing Pluto and going to through the Keplar belt..the outer reaches of our universe. We may not get to see fleets of spacecraft zooming the sky,(unless there is an alien invasion I imagine) but we will get to see some amazing things never thought or dreamed of.

Next monumental trip? I'd say Mars if you mean with astronauts. If the mission is just a satellite then New-Horizons has already planned Pluto(I think). So may the the Oort clouds, from where the solar system was born could be next.
