I have gotten many cats and i have had to name about half of them. I know when i name a cat i throw random words onto a piece of paper and see how they sound. How do you do it?

Bones - Here is a picture of my cat named Bones. He is half siamese/half tiger.
It was easy to choose the name of my cat. When he showed up in my yard. He was nothing but skin and bones. I thought he was going to die. He looked that bad. He was covered in fleas and was maybe 6 to 8 weeks old. If that. So, I named him bones. The name fits him. As he is now almost a year old. he is still skinney. No matter how much he eats. He can't seem to put on any weight.

I have several cats, and their names came to me from either the way that the acted, look and from my being Wiccan/Pagan. So, here goes: Precious got her name from when she was a baby. She was so cute and little that she reminded me of a Precious Moments doll, so this is how she got her name. However, I should have named her Miss Priss because she is so finnicky. Eros got his name because he was so cute and lovable. So, I call him the "god kitty of love." LOL!!! Cupid got his name because he looks just like his father, Eros, and I wanted to keep that same "god kitty of love" going in the family. Plus, he was just as loving as Eros when he was a baby. Gypsy got her name from me being Wiccan, and it fits her. She responded to it well. Falcor got his name from when he was a baby. He looked just like him when he was very, very small (around 3 or 4 weeks old). Willow got her name from me being Wiccan, and she also responded to it. Junior got his name from looking just like his father, Falcor. However, I don't think that he realizes that we call him this. Alien got his name from looking like an alien. His head is shaped like one, so I called him that and he responded. Cow-cow got his name because his markings on him look just like a cow. Red, well, we call him this because his fir is a red-orange color. However, his name is going to be changed to something such as Ogma, which is a celtic sun god. He might have a different name than this though because I really don't like it and he hasn't really responded to it. Patches is a kitten, and her fir has patches all over it. Plus, she responded to it. Caramel because she is the color of it. She also reminds me of an old cat that I had named Foxy. She doesn't respond to well to this name, so her name will probably change to. And, finally, the last one, who is just a few weeks old doesn't have a name yet, and I probably won't name him until he really starts to show some type of personality.

My daughter named her kitten Batman, but we had to change it. His purr was so loud I started calling him motorhead. Well it stuck and became his name. I had a cat one time, a stray that showed up and could not figure out a name so I called out names to see his reaction. The silly cat just laid there. I got fed-up just as a Nova came down the street, so I said,"Okay, then, how about Super Sport?" To my amazement the cat stood up, meowed and started brushing up against me, so he got his name. I could not have given him any other as he really seemed to like this one! (BTW, I was very young and I do know that cats do not speak English)

For me it was simple. I just used the names they had at the shelter I got them from. My male older cat is Lancelot so I just call him Lance. My female kitten is Inga. I like the KISS method with naming pets...that's simply just keep the name they have, lol.

This last one I watched for a couple of days, went through all the normal names and then one day I was watching her strut around like a rich woman in a fur coat and I said look how prissy she is acting. That's how we came up with Ms.Prissy.
