How does flouride tooth-paste helps to prevent the tooth decay?

The toothpaste manufacturers claim about their flouride containing toothpaste prevents the tooth decay. What does this flouride do to the tooth? Any chemistry?

Flouride has a chemistry which kills the bacteria,which stays as normal flora in teeth of human being.By lowering the numbers of bacteria we can slow down the decaying of teeth.

flouride keeps your teeth stronger. . it only easy break down when cavity attacks your teeth. it would also prevent your teeth from abrasion caused by mechnical toothrbrushing
