I have 2 little girls, me and honey at home now. When I was growing up there was 6 of us, 4 of which grew into men who ate a ton. SO the whole time I was growing up we cooked for a small army. Now that I have only the four of us to cook for (3 girls) I cant seem to downsize my meals. I try and try to make just enough but I always think "if I cook more, then they wont feel guilty eating that last piece of lasagna or what if someone stops by and I would like to be able to offer them dinner too(usually noone shows up though)". The problem is whatever I make we have to eat for a week..lol. I dont know why, but I dont seem to like to freeze stuff. My mom always made fresh meals that took a while to cook and it feels wrong when I just defrost a meal and reheat it. Is this a hard transition for many people to make, the downsizing??

Where at in the US are you? If your close I can take care of the left overs. Just kidding...seriously stop worring if someone is going to stop by and.or if someone is hurngray and wants a ton more. If people stop by let them know your sorry you only have enough for the 4 of you. If your family is still hungry give them some bread with the meal. Tha will usally stuff a hungry belly up.

I grew up cooking for a family of 5 big eaters lol. One BIG pot of soup was 1 meal! 1 family sized meal wasnt enough ect. Now that im a family of 3, one of which is a toddler, im still cooking for a family of 5 big eaters lol. I like having the leftovers though, my husband takes them to work for lunch, he gets a few days worth of left overs to pick from, Or sometimes we eat them for lunch at home. I try to remake foods using leftovers. For instance i boiled a chicken last night and made soup, although i didnt use all the meat. So today i used the leftover meat to make a chicken pie. Im used to it really... So i dont even bother with the idea of downsizing my cooking.
