Do you find wind chimes annoying or soothing?

For me it depends on the sound itself. Some wind chimes can be sooooo annoying to me, while others are very soothing. I also think it depends on where I'm hearing them. For the most part I do enjoy the soothing sounds of wind chimes though.

it depends for me, like my neighbors have one and it gets annoying because when i am trying to watch tv and the wind is really blowing their wind chimes get so annoying because they are like 10 feet from my window in my living room ( i live in a trailer park)

I had a neighbor that had one that annoyed the heck out of me. In particular every time I'd go to my beautiful relaxing swing on the enclosed front porch I'd hear her banging chimes! I wanted to pay a neighborhood kid to steal them! LOL Just kidding. But they were annoying. I had forgotten about that!

My daughter has an enormours set of wooden bamboo chimes and these really annoy me. Whenever I have stayed over night I was kept awake with the sound of them. I have small metal ones hanging on the inside of all my windows and there is just a delicate little chime from them which I love. During the Summer, when I am sitting in the garden, I take a set and hang them on a tree beside me, as the sound is very relaxing.

I'm the same way... I think I appreciate the little tingling of delicate chimes as opposed to those lower sounding ones.

Most of the time they don't bother me. I like to hear them. If I am in a rotten mood they really get on my nerves. It is not soothing then.

I love windchimes. My grandparents and my parents have always had them and I have 1 at my house. They are so calming to me!

I like wind chimes very soothing. The way you hear the sound depends on the mood you are. If you are in a happy mood you will find them soothing and if you are in a sad or angry mood you may find them annoying. But the realpurpose of wind chimes is to keep people tension free all the time according to ancient chienes belief.

Exactly, it depends on the sound, especially on decibells... lol! Usually they are soothing. But my neighbour downstairs (luckily not the one right below my appartement!) had wind chimes hanging on her balconies (I guess there were 3 of them). When it was windy there was an awful clinking and clanking. Now she has removed them, I guess they became annoying for herself also.

Soothing to me, unless there's a heavy or continuous wind, in which case they go on and on and on, nonstop, for a long period of time. Then it sounds like listening to music by Phillip Glass, LOL.

I agree that it mostly depends on where they are, although some chimes have that loud, tinny sound that is annoying and not at all soothing, no matter where they are (these are the ones that sound like cow bells). If they are outside of my bedroom window, I might find them irritating, especially on a really windy day. My parents' neighbor has some nice chimes, but they are hung outside of their back door on the deck, which happens to be facing my parents' bedroom window. These neighbors are very thoughtful, and have always tied the chimes with a bungee cord when it is really windy because they know that they will keep them awake. I find it relaxing to sit outside on a summer evening when it's starting to get dark and hear soothing chimes in the neighborhood.

I guess it depends where they are and when I'm hearing them. I think they could be annoying at times. I have never hung them myself. But I think on a summer day I'd enjoy hearing them too. Sorry can't make up my mind on that one.

I don't like the sound of wind chimes. It's pretty annoying for me. Especially in the morning and I'm not awake yet. I don't want to listen to it. That's just my opinion though.

I love wind chimes and have several of them. They are very pretty to watch. One of my neighbors gets a new one every year, as her husband gives her one for her birthday, so my husband has been doing the same for me.

I myself love Wind Chimes. I don't like the wood/reed/bamboo type though. I prefer the soothing Ting Ting of the steel tubes. Not the little type but the larger versions. Thanks Happy postings from Grandpa Bob
