These days... how slim is slim?

Women have been going gaga over having a slim body. My mom would always tell me that slim does not mean sexy. I see girls who are so thin that you'll be suspecting that they're anorexic already. I guess it was Ally Mcbeal who introduced clothes that are size 0. Teenagers, Women even Men at the present, get so obsessed on becoming sooooo thin to the point of not eating anything already. Men today seem to prefer slim, thin women than the voluptuous ones. For you how slim is slim? What is your definition of a person's being slim? Do you find very slim (model sized) women sexy?

I beg to disagree with men preferring slim women - although I'm female myself. There have been many surveys published recently that state that men prefer voluptuous women rather than the skinny anorexic twigs that sashay down the catwalks these days. I prefer to have a few curves to be honest - although I'm not what you'd call fat by any means. Curves make me female. Curves make me sexy. There's nothing sexy or feminime about being so thin that clothes hang off you as though you were a coat hanger.

I agree with you. Like I said ear;ier, I am not comfortable being so thin and therefore I think 'why would a man want someone so skinny, why not someone with more curves or boobs'. I think curves are more feminine. When I weighed 118 or after I had my kids, I felt more feminine.

Yes, I know... It's sad that the world turned this way... Now if a man sees a girl with 1 single kg plus then what they think it's slim they just ignore her and say "I could never be with that girl!" Or something like that. And now women have become obsessed, yes, with their sizes. And it's the fault of models actually. I mean, it's not actually their fault, but it's the persons' who criticized slim women who wanted to become models, telling her they aren't slim enough fault. And so the girls started being anorexic and only then they accepted them to be models. And of course 90% of the people thought that the models had the perfect weight and sizes, so they wanted to be like them. And that's how anorexia spread all over the world. And yes, it's very sad... If it was for me, slim wouldn't mean anorexic! And what your mother told you is right! In this moment you don't know how much I hate the models and the anorexic women in general! I know it's not actually their fault that they become anorexic, they just followed "the rules" and become this way, but it's just hard to live in a world where everything is based on beauty and less on what's inside a person, so it is hard not to get tempted to try and be "slim", in their version of slim. Even I want to be slim. I think I'm not slim enough. So sometimes I do get tempted because it drives me crazy! Seeing this kind of women everywhere! So it just happens to everyone that they fall for it sometimes. I really hope all this love for anorexia goes away soon!

I have never wanted to be to skinny, to me there was just something that caused them to look unhealthy. Most of the men I know seem to like slender, not skinny. There is a difference. Men do prefer curves of some kind, they just don't want obesity, or flabby, Think about how many men go ga ga over Jenifer Lopez's butt, Or Pamela Anderson, She is not skinny, granted the over abundance of bust has a lot to do with it. But when asked men are not the ones who pick women who look like Calista Flockhart. One woman who has been considered one of the most beautiful women and men who have only seen pictures of what she looked like when she was alive was and still is considered one of the most beautiful women, and that is Marilyn Monroe, the woman was a bit overweight, but she had curves, and men liked them. There is a site, called askmen.com, on this site if you looked up the women who men think are beautiful, there will be slender women there, models, actresses, singers, but most have some kind of curves, so it seems slender, yes, curvy yes, athletic yes, skinny not really. There were some, but not that many. One man I know used to say to me regarding a woman's weight and figure ... "you give the dog the bone, I'm a man and I want the meat"

I dont find model size women sexy. They are anorexic. They are not even sexy to look at. Slim for me is having the body that is just right. Being sexy is also seen in how one carries herself. You can just be in your casuals, in blue denims and white shirt and you look sexy in it.

I'm 5'6" and I weigh 124lbs, I have some fats and some muscles too and my boyfriend thinks i'm perfect. Don't believe on the propaganda about being skinny and all that. Let's admit that we like if there the person has something we can hug on too. Not a fragile petite person who looks so vulnerable to hold at. Lets be healthy as long as we are on our BMI. Follow your heart out.

I think the best and healthiest looking body type is just height and weight proportional. If everything goes along with the dimensions of everything else on a person's body and frame then there is nothing wrong with that. Some people have wider bone structures then others and so for them thin would be bigger than thin on someone who has a tiny bone structure. It doesn't make it less healthy looking in my opinion anyway. There is a obviously a such thing as too thin and too thick but it really depends on the individual.

Well for myself I consider myself slim if I am 140 lb and wear size 6. I stay between 140-150. So my ideal weight is 140.

A lot of people can not help being slim, I'm 40 kilos size 8(Aus). I have been to Gp's and had many tests and have tried in vein to put on weight. But, thats just how I am, I have always been a stick and always will be. Lucky some may say but it does get depressing sometimes (as for larger people) shopping for clothes that fit and in the kids section of all places, because they dont make my size. But on the other hand, there are many people killing themselves out there trying to be thin, models etc... are going over the top.

I can't understand why anyone would want to be so skinny, size 0! I am 5 foot 6 inches tall and I weigh only 108 pounds. I drank for 2 years and weighed 118, that is the most I have ever weighed in my life. I stopped drinking and got skinny again. I do not feel comfortable being so thin, some men like it and some women desire to be thin like me, I, however would do anything to gain just 6 pounds! I don't wear size "0", but I wear a size 3. I think it’s just we are really never happy with what we have.

My definition of a slim woman would be a lean body with no flabby hands. I'm not sure which body size is it but I'm sure I'm not that slim cos I'm a plus-size girl. I find some models too thin but some have the slim body that i wanted. I do think that they look sexy because they are able to wear anything they want. They are very lucky to have their body. But this doesn't mean I hate my body because I love my curves ^^

As a guy, I can tell you that I find most of the so-called supermodels too skinny. Being thin is great and all, but in my opinion, women who have some softness and curves to them are far sexier than those that are just skin and bones. Who wants to cuddle with a bony girl? Women shouldn't worry so much about what size they are, either, as the size you wear may not be relative to your proportions. There are plenty of other guys out there who appreciate voluptuous women, so don't think you have to be skinny to attract someone. Staying in shape is great, but that shape won't look the same for every woman. And that's great, variety is natural.

I think that it depends on the shape and build of the person. Some people can be 5'4" and weigh 150 lbs. and are slim. Like me I'm 5'5" and at the end of track I was pushing 150 lbs. That was all in muscle so it depends. In general I find nothing wrong with wearing a size 9. or even 12. Everyone is built differently and should be excepted for their build. It's the people who don't do anything and sit on he couch all day eating that bother me. when they complain about being obessed and not being skinny, they have no right because they don't do anything. As long as you work and are trying to improve your appearane I find onothing wrong with size. As for the models if I can see thier ribs and cheek bones they are way way way to skinny. They should not have any bone imprints showing through their skin. I must say though that obbesity is a rising concern of mine in the world today

I'm i guess what you would call slender. I'm 140Lbs, and quite a bit of muscle, half the time i can lift more than a man, but that's who i am... There's a little bit of bulk that i would love to get rid of but not to be anarexic looking, just to get my flat belly back. Because i loved that flat belly, and i would feel so much better about myself if i had it again. I'm 5'1'' and my BMI says i'm 10 pounds over weight and prone to health risks, but muscle ways more than fat, and according to my measurements, i don't have much at all, so i'm not worried. I think that if i was going to lose anything it would be due to excercise, that's it, I don't diet, i eat like 2+ steaks a day, my ruffage whenever ig et the craving, and things like potatoes and rice, i don't care about the stereo types, but i know what your saying... There's too many little girls out there that should be at least!!!! 15 pounds heavier... I find it sickning... i think a size 3 or 4 is small enough, that's it. Any smaller than that, it's just way too damned skinny... It's frustrating, and worrisome that children have to see this in magazines and think this is how they should be... And it's ashame that men are looking at their prefrences upon magazines as well.... Great discussion...

I don't know, I am 130 and definitely don't think I am slim! My husband thinks I am crazy and deson't want me to lose weight but I just don't see myself as skinny. I think it is all in my mind, and others too. We see these beautiful pictures of women on TV and in magazines all the time and want to be like them. For me I want to flat tummy...I think that is sexy =)

beauty lies in the eye of the beholder so to say that too skiny or slim looks sexy, its not possible for me to say yes to it.some people can say that slim are sexy and beautiful too, like VICTORIA BECKHAM, wife of David Beckham, she is just soooooooo very slim.. slim to a limit. i use to be a fitness freak but the day i got married everything changed. my life changed and it was just the other side of the coin.i was just in a perfect shape before but now its just 1 and a half year and i m bursting. so, i m not writing all this to tell you my story ,sorry if i bored you, but i just got an opportunity to share some one ,something as now i m too far to contact . one should be proportionate with height and distrbution of fat in the body.

Nice question, well as far as im seeing in the world today, slim is being anorexic- i dont know, it just seems that it is the new slim - skeleton slim! its like the more they can count and see your ribcage the better you look! which is really kinda scary in a sense... for me personally, slim should be not voluptuous but not to skinny either- and theres enough fat to cover the ribcages as well- i think tyra banks is someone slim for me. For model sized women, i really dont find it sexy because its not my personal definition of sexyness- for me sexy is all about curves, a good example of this for me would be- angelina jolie- well in lara croft that is.
