Moms, how old are you children?

Hi to all the mom's here on mylot. I'm new and don't know the ropes, but I'm so open for any discussions about the kiddo's. I was wondering, from the moms, how old are your kids? Mine are all teens. Jacob is the youngest, he's 13, Cory is 15, Kayci is almost 17, John John is 18 and Joshua is 19. I also have a 21 year old step son Cody, who is serving the Army in Iraq, he's the only one married and left home. His wife Jasmine is 20 and she's waiting on him to get home over in Germany. For those who have the older children, how did you handle the kids leaving home and starting their own lives. For those who still have the little one's I can offer quite a bit of advice. Feel free to ask anything.

Hello and welcome to mylot. I am always eager to talk to other parents too. However,my children are much younger than yours. Joshua is 11 likes to be called JP,Joslyn is 8 and my baby,Chandler is 7. Maybe as my oldest is approaching his teens you could offer me advice on those wonderful years. I am scared to dealth about living through those years. Exspecially with my very head strong daughter!! I will pray for Cody and his safe return. I pray about all our soilders in Iraq and it's always nice when I can get a true name of one of them. I would love to stay in touch.

hi welcome to mylot. im also a newbie and still learning the ropes. I have two boys -- Erol turns 8 soon and Rodel who just turned 6. They say boys are more difficult to handle than girls. Is this true?

Hi, in respect to your question, I think it is how you probably parent. With 2 boys you're probably eager to have a little girl and so you're building your hopes up, and little girls are awesome, but a lot of it also depends on how you take personalities. Little boys are rough and wild and love the outdoors, if you make them stay in the house they'll probably drive you wild. Little girls are more pleasureable in they're an indoor type child. They're not as much into the running, screaming, jumping, as boys are, but at the same time they tend to want to hang onto you. They want you to be with them every waking moment, and they tend to cry easier too. Considering I have the 4 boys who all grew up together, they all bonded to one another, played well together, so they were easier for me to handle.

Hi!! I have 2 children. My oldest will be 20 this month (gulp!). My youngest is 16. My oldest has been out on her own since she turned 18. She recently moved back home for a couple of months and is out again. It's hard because we are very close to her. But we stay in touch everyday on the phone or in email. I realize the kids have to grow up and begin their own lives. It's just hard cause we still think of them as our babies.

Hi. Holly is 4 1/2, will be 5 in July. I had her late in life, I'm nearly 43. If you're serious about offering advice, I'll add this: Holly is special-needs, she has Down syndrome. I'd love for her to be potty-trained, I'd also love for her to be able to hold her own cup and eating utensils, independently. She also doesn't speak yet. It sounds like you're doing a great job with your kids, I don't really have any advice for older kids, when I finally had Holly, I hadn't been around kids in a long, long time. I'd given up hope of ever having one of my own, in fact, then Holly surprised us.

I am not that new in Mylot, but I also like to talk about my kids. They were both born just the other day, but now they are both taller than me, the boy is nearly 14 and his sister will be 16 in Oct. I guess they will soon go their own ways and I am not looking forward to that. We were talking about my son's military service in a few years time and at first he said that he would not sleep for 3 days and take pills, so we wouldn't get accepted, but then he thought that pretending to have many different personalities would be a better idea! (He used to like acting when he was in primary school)I like the (1) after your name, so this must be your first entry! I hope you enjoy it here!

Welcome to the club! :) Isn't it wonderful to have so many children. You must be a great mom, you gave birth to three children in three consequent years! I suppose that was hard... I've got a 6 months old baby son. He's the cutest thing in the world :)

hi, i think yu will enjoy your time here and if yuo get time to make lots of posts yu can earn some good money as well as make friends and have fun. yuo have your hand full with your children adni hope your stepson is safe. i only have 2 sons, one is 22 and lives with his girlfriend the other is 19 and is going steady but still lives with me. my eldest left when he hd only turned 19, we hadn't fallen out but he is very independant and had to have major heart surgery at 18 which gave him a mature view on life plus gave him the opportunity to get his own flat as he was on disability for a while. when he was going i started to cry so he stayed that night and slept on the floor even though i told him not to. he is working now and has just bought his first house with his girlfriend but she started living with him soon after he got his onw flat.

I have one child at the age of 5. He will be 6 in June. Boy they grow sooo fast. He is my joy and he has taught me alot. I hope when he is old enough to start his on life that I can let go easily. I hope I can be the kind of mother that has prepared him to be out on his own. He is very independant, always have been.

I'm new to MyLot also. I have 1 child and he is 11 years old. Since you've offered advice and have some older kids - I do have a question for you......My son's had a girlfriend since the beginning of the schoolyear. I found out a few months ago they kissed. The first time, I knew it was just a peck and wasn't really bothered by it, but I recently heard that a few weeks ago, the girl's parents left them home (supervised by 2 14 year old girls) and they kissed some more. I didn't demand specfic details, but told my son I was upset that her parents left them with teenagers, and that teenagers can sometimes be more of a bad influence on younger kids, than they are supervisors. We also had a brief boys/girls talk, but I didn't want to go overboard just yet. Since then, I've tried to have my son spend more time with the guys (without him realizing it's intentional), just to slow things down in that area. Do you have any additional suggestions on how to prevent this from progressing to quickly?
