Sub or Dub?

I watch it dubbed, even if the voice acting is horrid because I find the subtitles to be too distracting to what is going on. That and I don't know Japanese so I wouldn't be able to pick up on the emotion in their voice. There are some series where the main characters sound like girls (DBZ) so that makes the Japanese dialogue unbearable as well.

I usually watch them with subtitles. I have learned over the years that the dubs are usually not translated properly and really don't make a whole lot of sense sometimes. And usually the Japanese voiceings fit the characters better than the English voices do.

I actually prefer the subtitles. I know that the English words don't match exactly... but I feel like when I watch anime or even foreign films with the subtitles, maybe I might pick up some of the langauge. I love foreign language.

I prefer watching anime in Japanese with subtitles, 'coz when it's dubbed, usually the dubbers are not as good as the original seiyuu. Moreover, by watching it with subtitles, I can develop my Japanese and learn words from it... =)

Sub, I love to hear the japanese.

well, I would have to say that I usually like dub better. I mean I was watching ergo proxy (just came out last year) in sub and I actually miss the fact that there was actually something messing with the main characters mind because I never looked at the screen because I was reading subtitles. I mean I thought he was just talking to himself.

I love to watch a movie in subtitle, it's so relaxing! I think it's because you really must focus and screen out all other things to watch it... :))

Yes, subs make my eyes go rolling up and down between the animation and the words that I try to read. It is more understandable if they are dubbed, and makes me more relaxing as I don't have to keep my eyes from following the words on the captions below. There are also some animes which are poorly dubbed, I think it is them (japanese) who translated and dubbed it. An example of a quality japanese anime that have a subtitle was, final fantasy: the advent children. I have to watch twice to understand what are written on the captions!;)

I prefer movies dub in english. There are some dubs that are so bad. It's irritating but I rather watch a dub version because I don't like reading the subtitle. I usually look at the words and didn't see the whole picture. That's why I had to turn off the caption on my tv. I don't want to always read and don't look at the picture.

Hmm depends really, but i mostly prefer dubbed like you i would also like to enjoy the anime that im watching specially if the graphics are cool and the characters are cute ^_^ but there are times, that i prefer it subtitled, providing that the subtitles are clear enough to read- it gives you more "feel" of the anime and also it gives you an opportunity to familiarize yourself or even learn other languages which i often enjoy as well. =)

I prefer dub, unless it's a well done dub then I'll usually watch the show twice, because on most occasions you get to sit there and point out that that's not how that line was supposed to go. Sometimes the way the dialogue is it's almost a completely different storyline. First thing that coems to mind is Generator Gawl's first episode, their way different in the sub versus the dub.

Although watching anything subtitled can be difficult and subtracting, for anime (and anything else foreign really) I like watching with subtitles rather than with dubs. Usually the original voice actors have a more realistic feel in their voices. Although there are some good American dubs for some series (Full Metal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop to cite a few), overall there isn't really much in the way of good dubbers. So it's usually subs for me.

subs for me. i don't mind the reading. and i prefer to watch it in the rawest form possible for me. i'd watch it just plain raw if i knew more of the language. my boyfriend prefers dubs just because he doesn't want to read and miss any of the action. but i've seen so many anime butchered just because of the horrible dubbing. and that has turned me so far away from dubs now.

I prefer sub because I like everything original better... and they don't make watching anime annoying or anything since I know Japanese pretty well already and I just need subs to help me a bit with vocabulary that I don't know

when im lazy and dont want to read I prefer Dub. but when I want to learn japanese I like to read it, plus their japanese voices are sooo kawaiii!!!

Recently i have seen good old hollywood movies dubbed in Hindi languege and found that interetsting because of dialogues were set withlips movements and translation both! I think new technology has really done good things in this field!

When i started watching anime series,it were versions with subtitles wich had the original japonese voices, maybe because of that i prefer by far the original versions, having to read the subtitles ain`t a big hassle for me, furthermore the voice acting in these series is so many times so charismatic and unique that dubbing it makes it a lesser viewers experience.

I hate english being replaced, I watch bleach off youtube, and there was one with english replaced, i couldn't stand to watch it for 2 minutes, i shut it off and searched for another. It gets rid of the feel of the character, especially that the sound is off, who wants to see a mouth moving a lot after they finished talking? It's great to have english subtitles though, I'm learning a bit of the language, lotsa fun and it helps to understand though sometimes the subtitles aren't on long enough to read, other than that i'm all for japanese w/ subtitle! p.s. GO BLEACH!!!!!!

Subbed, Nuff said...

I prefer subs over dubs any time. It's because dubs can't really fit in whatever characters say. Subs on the other hand, you just read the whole translation without any cuts or paraphrasing and stuff.
