why do American celebs adopt foreign children?

very true, but at least they are doing something good and not out boozing it up at clubs. i don't mind too much anyway b/c we, as a country, aren't too good at focusing on our own problems anyway. we like to go to other countries and fix them up before we'll mend our own boo boos. besides, adoption is very personal and i think they end up adopting the kids after they meet them and can't imagine leaving them behind...know what i mean?? rosie o'donell has adopted a whole bunch of american kids...don't forget Ro!

It doesn't really make me mad. I mean, after all, there are certainly worse things they could be doing. Admittedly, it seems like a trend among celebrities right now, but I think some of them like Angelie Jolie really care about the world and want to help out in whatever way they can.

I think celebrities adopt foreign children because their country is in more of a need of a lot of things than just finding homes for children, many of the people in those countries worry about finding enough to eat on a daily basis! You know how Oprah opened up that school in Africa? And everyone was questioning why she didn't open the school up in the U.S? Well her reply to this was really touching. She said that you ask a child in America what they want and they reply with something materialistic like: "a new Ipod". You ask a child in Africa this same question and they reply: " An education".

I don't understand this either, but what gets me more is why do people spend thousands of dollars on invetro when they could adopt. I understand they feeling of wanting one of your own. But why not adopt just one. I have a cousin who is now preg though invetro and she just had to reduce her pregnecy. Which when I thought about it struck me as odd. Not wrong or right just a different view point.
