What is "real music"...and who is performing it for delighting your ears?Is it Wagner?Beethoven?Dame Shirley Bassey?Frank Sinatra? Is it The Rolling Stones? The Doors?Or maybe just the nightingale...? I am so curious...who performs that real music???Who is responsable with your relaxation?

Well to tell you honestly I don't have one particular type of music or musician or group that defines real music for me. We often have this discussion with my daughter who for a while only listened to rap and music made with computers and synthesizers. We are happy now that she is listening to real music. Real music being defined as music played on instruments by real people.

Although i found some rap and even synth "music" to be real good and enjoyed it a lot that doesn't count as much because of the few good "songs" that i was able to find in that part of the music industry. So i must admit that you are right...real music is made by real people and it's played on instruments BUT NOT all the time ;)

common profetu u really ask such silly questions all the time, i dont know how to handle your questions, real music is one that is not fake, so simple ,my god you dont even know this, i will like my hub to perform it for me, he is really a good singer, but he sanged it for me, just once after our engagement, but never after marriage, i have heard the noises of rolling stones, when i go to hills, hee heee---------ok it is good, just to keep your heart, mind you, nighthingale birds sings good, so that is also real music, i myself is responsible for my relaxation, when i feel tired i lie down on my bed, and who is responsible for yours----------i guess rolling stones kicks u on the bed---------heeeeeeeeeeeeee, i have qualified as a good messer

The definition of "real" music is relative, depending on who defines it. Incidentally I like listening to most of the ones you mentioned, from Wagner to Rolling Stones. They are all real music depending on my listening mood. If I wanted to relax I tend to listen more of the classical music but if I am doing something when I have to exert more physical effort, I like listening to lively and more modern lively music.

Real music to me is what will take me to a space that lifts me. I'm sure it is a personal thing, like art. It's a matter of taste. I do know that certain music is really harsh and someone might as well be scratching their fingernails on a blackboard because it feels the same, really hurts. I like music with rhythm, sometimes soft and sometimes bouncy. I do love kettle drums and anything that will take me 'down' into a primal space. And sometimes I like music that makes me float, so I can lose myself. If it makes my cry then it has touched special places inside me. Then I could be a sook! Moods and music...............

And I can perfectly understand that.Everything in you has a certain rythm. The best part is that you know how to choose music according to your moods.I admire that..a lot. Thank you Tetchie. For everything *wink*

Good question and one I must answer because music is massively important to me - I have a big collection and listen to music most days. My musical tastes range from Jimi Hendrix (whom I absolutely worship - what an axeman!) to the Dandy Warhols, to the Chemical Brothers, to Jet, to Leftfield and an awful lot more in between. I'd say I like most music as long as it's got cojones :-)

I would say... real music is something that strikes the chord of your soul. Different people are moved different ways so there might be more than one kind of "real music". There are many genres out there so everyone should be able to find something they like. ;-)

That's true...only one question: What if I am a psycho and I like drums?I would make music that would touch my soul. But ...would it be real music? Thank you.

All music is 'real'. I guess that that horrible kind of pop (Britney Spears and boy/girl bands) are just manufactured so the art of production is fake. I know this is off on a bit of a tangent, but I think the quality of music shows itself through time; it takes time to develop an artist's skills and musical personality, and if their music stands the test of time then it will be proved to be 'real' music that has made an impression and is going to be remembered. I have a lot of different types of music ranging from Mozart flute concertos to System of a Down. It all depends on what mood I am in as to what I listen to, but if i'm relaxing I have a bit of Johnny Cash, jimmy eat world or Norah Jones on. Music is powerful, use it wisely

Indeed that one is ,if i may say so...music ,being an art form ,lines up with the other good things and stays there (if it's good enough)and just manage to "stain" culture itself. My God...if you can read and understand what i just wrote you're one good reader. I just wanted to say that you are absolutelly corect in your post.Got to go and listen to "God's gonna cut you down" right now.thank you for posting

All the music is real music, though I will tell friends that heavy metal and such is just noise and has nothing to do with music. On the other hand I personally will listen to flute music to relax, especially R. Carlos Nakai, a Native American flute player. I also like listening to Native Drumming. But then I like Buddy Rich, and that type of drumming. I really enjoy country music, easy listening, some rock ahd oldies, and sometimes listen to classical, but not that often.
