I guess I'm missing something, because I just don't get it. What has the following so called famous folks like Ana Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, or Britney Spears done that warrants all the news media hype? None even fall close to the like of entainers or stars. What have they done that justifies all the news? Being a butt head and making a fool is not news. Getting in and out of hot water is not enterainment. So why should anyone care if they choose to be stupid and foolish?

To be honest with you, I think this kind of stuff is happening all the time among the entertainment industry. We just don't always hear about it because there aren't that many sources of media. Only a handful of media conglomorates control what we get to hear about. I have started to notice that big stories like this, that seem to drag on and have most of America questioning why these stories continue every day always happen when something big politically is going on. Case in point; Back when the Elian Gonzalez story was all over the media...none of the regular news stations reported that China came Very close to bombing America. The only news station that I happened to catch it on was PBS, the Public Broadcasting news. So to answer your question...I don't think its the entertainment industry...its those in power who want to divert our attention away from political crises, they would rather have us watching the day to day reports of Anna Nicole and Britney than start to question what is going on in Washington D.C. There is a pattern here...

I agree with you and usually try to find something else but can't for the life of me understand why every network and news is filled with this. Where is the real news and isn't someone else doing anything worth a look instead of this useless foolishness.

You are right it all driven by money and ratings but do these folks really deserve this attention. Court rooms and trials have their place but not fill all the news and media with same old story over and over. The ones this get the most attention are not even good artists in their own right.

I don't know, but did find some interesting information today. Did you know Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are the top earning stars under 21? We don't see them in the news often and they made about 40 million in 2006. Several other young stars on the top ten list are Hayden Panettiere, who is the cheerleader on Heroes, does commercials and movies. Tyler James Williams plays Chris on Everybody Hates Chris and was in the movie Unaccompanied Minors. We just need to pay attention to stars that are doing good things in the television and movie world.

I agree it is ok to get the enterainment and stars info at times but there is no way it should be the headline news in every major news media. There are plenty of enterainmemnt and hollywood news platforms without wearing us out.

because all mainstream media = Liberal Democrats. it's all time filler and/or distraction from the the real news.

Not sure its the Democrats behind this. I'm not one myself but really seems like its all about money and ratings. And nothing else, none of these folks were anything but rich. As far a talent goes I just don't get it either what is they do anyway?
