This is something that should be taken seriously and can only be diagnosed through proper studies. Your physician would most likely want to do a sleep study and view the results prior to diagnoses. This shouldn't be taken likely as sleep apnea can be a major disease. People die daily due to this condition. Especially people who are not diagnosed!

Hello, My name is Shelia McCrary. My husband has sleep apnea and he does snore but before he got so bad at snoring he was also low on energy. Like you, he could fall asleep very easily, just sitting watching TV. It was getting to the point that he was tired no matter how much sleep he received. I work as a transcriptionist for a local hospital and had typed several reports on patients with sleep apnea and I urged him to get an appointment to see the doctor. Thankfully he did and now that he wears his CPAP machine he rarely ever snores and he is more rested and energetic during the day. Hypertension is also a symptom that can develop from sleep apnea. I think it would be good for you to check with a doctor and see if you can get some of your questions answered. Another thing, even if you don't have sleep apnea, there is the possibility of narcolepsy, this is falling asleep, as you said, on a dime. I hope this will help you. Best of luck to you. I suffered from all the same problems, and went for the sleep study only to be told I'm one of the loudest snores the clinic has seen. But no sleep apnea. They said my sleep issues could be diet related, weight related and so on. I'm not sure if it's a family thing or not. But good luck with this.

I don't know if there is a way you can tell just from home if you have sleep apnea. From what I know about it, you have to have a sleep study done. From what you've listed though, it does seem like a very strong possiblity. I'd suggest that you contact your doctor & get scheduled for a sleep study. You probably already know that untreated sleep apnea can lead to heart problems, high blood pressure, & numerous other problems as well. Blessings, JoannH
