I woke up this am and saw the news, deadly tornadoes in georgia and alabama. This is one thing that makes me thankful I do not live in an area where tornadoes happen frequently..
It makes me say to myself that things could be worse, just when you think your life is horrible, think of what these poor people are going thru; and your life does not seem that bad.
Has anyone ever experienced a tornado themselves?

Two days ago we had a tornado hit about 8-10 miles south of us (South FL), but only one house was damaged. We were lucky. What you wrote about is exactly what I saw when I turned on the TV this morning. My sister lives in the Kansas City area, and they also had one hit on Wednesday. Then yesterday Alabama and Georgia got it. My son and his family live south of Atlanta, but north of where it hit there. I guess I've been lucky since I've never gone through a tornado myself...yet. The devastation is really terrible, and my heart goes out to those involved and the families who lost relatives.

I'm from Mobile, Alabama born and raised up until 1999. I know about tornadoes, hurricanes, thunder and lightening. I tell you down there I hate those...
I also have friends in Enterprise, Alabama which got hit pretty hard yesterday morning...
One thing I have learned from being down there, even here, I believe in having some kind of home insurance. Some of those people didn't have any insurance and lost everything..
I never been that close to a tornado, but I've been through some pretty severe hurricanes. They are no fun at all...As a child, I tried to sleep through them all.
Here in Virginia, we got an excessive amount of rain overnight. But, nothing like down south...

I live in Georgia (metro Atlanta area) and we were pretty much under a tornado watch all day yesterday. Fortunately, there were no touchdowns close to us but it is still scary to know that you may end up in the path of one. We have been here about 3 years and have lived through a number of warnings in our area (one particularly bad one where we were instructed to get to an interior part of the house ASAP)
