Ah Gundam, it's a classic. There have been multiple Gundam series and there isn't an anime fan out there who hasn't heard of or seen at least one of the shows. Certainly it's a must see for all mecha and large robot type fans.
The very first Gundam series I saw was Mobile Suit Gundam. I was drawn into it but I didn't get to finish watching it as a friend only had some of it. Many years passed and then I saw Gundam Wing, which to this day, remains my favorite. I also liked Gundam Seed as well, G Gundam though did nothing for me.
One thing that has always appealed to me about this series is the complex themes and storylines that the shows always employ as well as the fact that there is never truly a clear cut "evil" villian. In real life there is rarely a true distinction between good and evil and I love the fact that the Gundam creators always strive to blur the lines. You really get a good feeling for the characters and even if you disagree with them you can at least understand where they're coming from. The themes and issues that the shows address are also not the standard, everyday fare that one sees splayed about in other shows. Just some of the more complex issues and themes that these shows have addressed are the atrocities of war, sacrifce, altruism, martydom, genocide, prejudice, the list goes on.
Now, my questions to you: What was the first Gundam show you saw, what was your reaction to it? Which Gundam series (or movie) is you favorite?

Another GS/GSD fan? lol I don't think anyone here cares for the older series. Sad though, because they are quite good.
I've never seen Vandred in its entirety. I think I've only seen, at most, three episodes. It's another anime that's on my "to be watched" list.

Yes it is sad that only the most recent series seem to be the "favorites". Though I would have to disagree on your judgement of Seed/Seed Destiny. I thought the series was quite good and found Seed to be better than it's older predecessor. Seed Destiny, well it was good but I preferred Seed.

yeah, people only appreciate Seed and Destiny, without even mentioning the Original Series. Seed is only a remake of the story of Amuro (Which is way much powerful than Kira..hehe)

Whoah! I like gundam wing too!!! Why? because of the unique gundams and of course the characters (Like Heero and Zechs). Next is the first gundam, MObile Suit Gundam One Year War (Newtypes! Amuro is the best!!)

Well, of all the Gundam series, I only liked Gundam Wing. The others that followed it were not-so-good at all. I've been hearing some good stuff about Gundam seed though.

You must be talking about G Gundam. Yes that series was definately a disapointment and I really wondering what the Gundam creators were thinking producing that one.
I was leery of watching Gundam Seed as well, especially with my disapointment of G Gundam, however I found Gundam Seed to be spectacular. It gives Gundam Wing a run for its money, no doubt.

I think G Gundam is much better than Seed. I think it could have been much better if they did a reanimation of the original series(the one year war) rather than creating a new series based on it(which is seed, which in turn s****, especially Seed Destiny)

actually, even though i like those robot-type anime or mecha or transformers or whatever it is that they are called, i didn't really like the gundam series. any of them. they were just too sad. the kids always had to make impossible decisions and forced to fight when they don't want to. i always feel sad for them, and since that happens almost the whole way through the series, i refuse to watch it and end up being upset for the rest of the day.

I've only managed to finish three Gundam series (Wing, Seed and Seed Destiny), so I'm not much familiar with the others. Wing was the first of the series I've encountered and though I couldn't understand much about the storyline, the mecha was quite impressive, especially Trowa's Gundam unit. As for favorites, well I'd choose Seed Destiny, as most of the units there could kick major butt, not to mention I really looked forward to the future of the characters in the story.

Gundam 00 would be mine. I've seen only three Gundam series: Wing, G and Double Oh.
What I like about Double 00 is its relevance to current events, which is a first in the Gundam franchise. Plus, the voicing is nicely done although Wing had the voices of my most admired voice actors like Takehito Koyasu, etc.
My first reaction with Gundam 00 was... "Wow!" I was blown right away especially when they introduced Gundams Virtue and Kyrios foiling a terrorist attack on the space elevator.

Gundam! The first gundam I have ever seen was Gundam Wing. Years later I started watching the other series. I stuck to the series based on the Universal Coloney. One of whitch is Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. I cant really pick a favorite, but I would like to point out MSG 0083. The story line of this one is beautiful. Im more of the classic gundam fan. I never really watched 00 or Seed.
