Is dance hall music reggae are should it be in a category by itself

People ask what's the difference,is there a difference between the two and should there be.What are your views on this?Can anyone differenciate between the two.

Most definitely, there is a big difference. dance-hall is Jamaica's equivalent to to US and European pop music, its all about feel good. Reggae is the rabbles music which is on a mission to educate uplift and unify the people, beat down the walls of Babylon. it is the voice of the oppressed and the whip of the wicked. there ar many songs which uses a reggae beat but they aren't really reggae Paris Hilton song for example. The reggae beat is well accepted but the rabbles message is still struggling to get out there.
