At this point in my life I cannot save any of my money. I have so many bills, loans, and credit card debt to my name that every time I have a pinch of money I really have to pay things off. However...I have a small stash of cash that I do not blow right away. That's there for the occassional going to movies, having a drink, or dinner with my friends. When I can I am going to start saving again. It's a great habit.

yes it is. and one way of doing it is to monitor expense and see where the bulk of spending go.

My hubby is a very practical person and believes in living life backwards, i.e keeping in mind the future, he lives the present. And that includes finances for sure. He of course is responsible for the finances in our house and he is a very good saver. He thinks spending all the money just because we have it, isn't right. So we do have a good amount in our savings account.

the faster you pay for your loan - the lesser the cost of the loan :)

Oh Yes, No doubt about that. I have an opionion that every one shoudl save something for tomorrow. You shoudl decide by youself what percentage of your earning should be saved. Consistent saving will lead to a secure future.

Well, as much as i can i do, but right now i cant because there's nothing to save.. im currently unemployed =( and i've already famished all my savings from my last work because of my emergency pregnancy. But it is really important for me to save, i make it a point to spare even 10% of my earnings in the bank and not touch it unless its a emergency. I know that i will not always have a job, i will not always have spare cash, i will not always have my mom to support me financially, and i know that there's always a possibility of an emergency that is why saving is very important to me.

I used to, but then fell on hard times for awhile and have not been able to save. I wish I could, as I know it's the best thing to do. You never know when something might happen, and you need a large chunk of money. I hope things will balance out soon, so that I can start putting money aside.
When I was younger, though, I always had money. I babysat so often, that I had money and no time to spend it. I was the richest kid I knew, LOL.

you are right. there are things that could happen that could swipe you entirely like sickness or accidents. these things happen and having a financial war chest will spare us from more problems.

Right now I have a lot of debt that I need to work on paying off, so I can't save too much because I'm actually losing money on small interest in my savings and large interest on my debt.
However, I do have a very small emergency fund in a savings account, and I have a 401(k) through my work, as well as a tiny brokerage account that I mostly use to learn about investing for when I have more money later. My 401(k) is the best thing for me, because the company I work for matches the money I put in dollar for dollar (up to 6% of my pay, which is how much I put). So basically if I weren't contributing to my 401(k), I'd be throwing away free money!

I am applying this in my life right now after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robet Kiyosaki. I started investing in mutual funds. And it was great because after 7 months my investment already earned 43%. It is always good to know that we have saved something when the rainy days come.

Yes, I do save for the future. I have several savings accounts that I use for home repair and other emergency funds. I also have a 401(k) investment account, as does my husband. I also have several other longterm investment accounts for our retirement. I do everything I can to save for the future.

that's another form of good discipline. there are also good debts which in a way gives you a leverage as long as you can pay for it.

Yes,i think saving for the future is very important.I always try put a bit away every month.I like having money set aside so if i see anything i want i can buy it.I don't think in this day an age theirs any need to get into debt.
My moto is if i can't afford it i don't buy it.I save up then buy it.
So saving for the future is important to me
