Strom Thurmond and Al Sharpton

Ok, on the news these past few days, I heard it on CNN first. They have reported that a geneology site has came forward and stated that Strom Thurmond's family had workers from Al Sharpton's family years and years and years ago. Workers (probably) meaning slaves. Does anyone else think this is ironic? Al Sharpton, a well known civil rights leader, and Strom Thurmond, who was soooo against civil rights, might be related. The site said that some ancestors of Thurmond's had some sort of relations with ancestors of Sharpton's. I just find that ironic, that out of all the people, these two families may have crossed. The news report also said that DNA testing would be done soon.

I heard this too, read it on the web, saw it on TV and also the newpapers. I do believe this might be what is called Poetic Justice. I do find it very ironic, these 2 so completely on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

I think it's funny. Thurmond's granddaddy owned Sharpton's great-great-great-great-great granddaddy. Hilarious.
