It just depends on how much money you have on budget to spend on child. When hubby and I were first married and son turned one we spent only $20 or less cause we didn't have that much money. Sometimes things do get alittle out of hand.

Before from 1 to 3 years of my 1st daugther i spend more and celebrate extravacantly because my concentration is only my only daugther. But now that i recently give birth with my second daugther and my 1st daugther celebrate her 4th birthday, we just celebrated it simple manner because we are preparing for the christening of our little baby.

I know we've spent too much on our son, thankfully he has a little brother that will grow into all of his toys as well. I think you should be reasonable about the room you have, if the toys will fit or get in the way, and be realistic about how much the child will really play with it. Good luck .

$75 is not much these days. I would stick close to that amount for birthdays that are not the first or seventh. Here in the Philippines, the first and 7th birthdays are more important and you can easily spend $300 on them. I like the birthdays out there better though, pizza and cake is enough, out here more food is required like spaghetti, egg rolls, barbecue and fried chicken.

My daughter is yet to have a birthday but we went kind of nuts for Xmas - we spent between $600 & $700 (Australian though) on her gifts, lots of educational toys & toys to help her development which we were happy to do - she'll be 1 in June & for the moment she's getting some clothes & a vibrating Elmo chair so that's only about $100 (AUD again) - i don't know if we'll get her anything else or not but you spend what you want & can afford, if you see something you like, grab it but if not then it doesn't matter.
Kids don't worry about what you spend, they're happy with anything they're given!
