NETHERLAND COLONIZE JAVA more than 350 YEARS

I am living at Java Island, my grandfather told me that netherland colonized our country ( java ) more that 350 years. Actually, i don't ndertsand why they do it with our country. Also some property has moved to their country.
But I don't have a proof for this.
