What you think about internet relationship ( Far distance relationship)

I have a friend that thinks long distance relationship really works. Anytime I try to discourage him about it, it tends to get more focused on what he wants. I'm really confused about this and wonder if one can make a perfect life out of it. He met this lady online and for a long time now they've been together, they call each other, spend long time on phone, exchange gifts and the both parents of him and the lady are in support of their relationship although they havent seen each other expect from cams and pics they exchanged. He told me that this is the best relationship he has ever had and he is planning very much on visiting her. He said the feeling both are having is beyond every other feeling in relationships. I wanna know if this really works coz I dont want my friend to make a mistake when it comes to getting married. When i try to talk about the disadvantages, we end up fighting over it. What you think about this...?
