My husband and I finally agree on something. We are both in an uproar because last weekend, when she came to visit, his daughter had blond streaks added to her hair! She's 8 years old. Of course, I couldn't say anything to her mother about it but my husband sure did. A moot point since the damage is already done. His daughter has beautiful, waist length hair that was a strong brown. Now, she has highlighting with permanent dye all through her hair. I can't imagine what would possess a person to do this to their child of such a young age. Her mother is a bottle-blond, with piercings and tatoos - that's fine, wonderful, she's an adult. She can do whatever she likes with her body, but why be in such a rush to turn your daughter into a hussy? Not to mention what condition her hair will be in by the time the dye grows out. This girl is already big for her age, I don't think it's fair to push her out there in the world any faster than she has to go. She's still a baby at heart. I don't think that it's cute how much older she looks. Don't worry, I didn't say anything negative to my stepdaughter. Of course she wants to look like her mom, all little girls do. It's her mother who should have had better sense. Am I being old-fashioned? What do you think?

i agree with you. She dosen't need to be dying her hair that young anyway. hair becomes brittle from dying it. I hope she doesn't have anything else done to soon to it. To much dying of anyones hair can cause it to become dryed out. My mom is a hair stylist so i know a little bit and I hair it from her she has been at it for over 20 years now.

Thanks, Shaun. I think my husband and I will take her to a professional and try to get some conditioning treatments for her hair. It's a shame, she has such beautiful natural hair.

Sorry, I think that is too young to be putting chemicals on a childs hair. Her mother should have more sense. Not a good move on her part. What's next, a tongue piercing?
