what do you prefer buy software legal ordownloadon internet include the s/n

For me I have prefer get programs from my school by transfering =) and I'd buy from the it mall which have so many programs that I could buy cheaper than legal software. I prefer not to download from internet because I don't want any virus or whatever gonna make my computer going down = =* horrible..
