Long ago and far away before computers, board games were the thing for family fun or for when friends got together for an evening.
What was (or still is) your favorite board game?
I remember playing Life and Monopoly for hours and hours - years ago they were just so much fun and we all seemed to get a big kick out of playing them.
No those games are on the computer, and you can play interactively on-line with your friends anywhere in the world. Yes, it is fun, but it will never replace the memories of board games before computers took over!

I love playing board games. I would have to say that Life is my favorite. Its rare hearing somebody talk about board games now days. Most people are into the computer games or video games. It's nice to know that not everybody has forgotten about board games!!!

I grew up in a big family, 4 brothers and three sisters. My parents loved card games (canasta and rummy) they also liked board games and they played with us often. We loved to play scrabble, monopoly, life and many others. My brother collects different types of monopoly games.Monopoly is my favorite with scrabble second

Well we played a lot of board games growing up including monopoly, scrabble, boggle, yahtzee, and parchesi. Personally I still like Boggle and I love Connect Four but not sure if either count as board games. Same as Mah Johgg. Played a lot of that one as well and it can be fun depending on who I'm playing with.

I still love board & card games. I have a WHOLE closet full of both adult & kids games. I love when I am with my sisters we will play games all day. I will visit them next week & will play games most of the time. I still love Monopoly. I also like scattergories, Apples to Apples, Skip bo, phase 10. I could go on all day.

I always loved Life. That and Clue. To me those are classic games that never go out of style. My kids like Monopoly, but we play the Junior version since they are little. But the number one game in our house is...... Balloon Lagoon (a kiddie board game, but very cute).

Awwww, you mean I have to pick one? hehe.
I love games of all sorts, on the computer and off. I have a whole cabinet dedicated to board and card games, but alas I am so distracted these days that I rarely play them.
I grew up playing Monopoly, Aggrevation, Candyland, Snakes and Ladders, Checkers, Sorry, Payday, Gin Rummy, Crazy Eights, and, of course, Go Fish*lol*. As I got older I added Pente, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble and Cribbage to my repetoire. I guess playing a lot of games helped me appreciate them.
At the moment, I'd have to say among my favorites are Chess, Nightmare Chess, Zombies!!!, Mystery Rummy (Jack the Ripper), Apples to Apples, Wise or Otherwise, Whatif?, Backgammon, Mancala, and RoboRally. I have a tendency to love really bizarre games, as well as less known non-western games (like Mancala, Set, or Go).
Oh and let's not forget Risk!!And I whole-heartedly agree - playing on a screen is absolutely NO substitution for playing face to face over a real board with actual pieces. There is a distinct pleasure to be gained from the spatial and tactile elements in live board/card games.

I loved playing life and Monopoly. The only problem I had was getting someone to play as long as I wanted to.
I could play both games for hours, and I mean hours. I just think that those two games are endless.
Another two games I like are scrabble and scattegories.
At least with scrabble, there is a time limit because when you run out of space that's the game.

monopoly and something similar to sorry. sometimes i play chest too but I lost it more often than monopoly. I don't play PC games much, if I do it will be simple ones like pacman, digger, tetris etc you're right! board games are more fun and we got to hug each other when we win!

My sister and I always played Battleship. We loved imitating the commercial on tv--"YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!" AS a family, we always played Yatzee, Clue, Monopoly, Scrabble, and just about anything Milton Bradley had out in the mid 1970's.
My kids enjoy playing Clue Jr., Cootie (Still love this one!) Chutes and Ladders, and Candyland. I don't care for Candyland, because no matter how much I "cheat" I never can win at the game. LOL!!!
