When do you do your grocery shopping?

I usually shop for groceries on Friday afternoon right after I get out of work - On Fridays I leave work early, by 1:30 p.m., so I get my shopping done there so I can have the whole weekend free.
When do you do your shopping? Do you do a weekly trip or make many trips throughout the week? I may run into the store to pick up some milk or bread during the week, but typically do my week's shopping on one day.

I make grocery trips at least once a week or every other week depending on budget. But i want to do it on noon time because there's less people queueing in the register when paying and definitely less people around. But since i cant leave my business just early in the day, i have to go shop at late afternoons which is rush hour for both the road and grocery shops:P

Noon is a good time to go -- I like to be able to get through the store and checkouts without a huge wait.

I used to shop Saturday mornings, but the crowds were so big it took forever to check out. That's nice your family goes with you.

I try to only do one shopping trip each week also. I have to shop when my 4 yr old is either at daycare still (after work) or with her dad. It is too difficult to shop with her in tow, and I end up spending a lot more.

I can understand that! When I take my boys or my husband with me we seem to end up spending lots more money. I tend to buy food - lol When my husband runs to the store he comes home with all sorts of treats and snacks and seems to forget the real food- haha

I dont do grocery very often. I mostly do that like once or twice a month and it's usually for my meals, soap, and cosmetics supply. But if I am out of town at my parents house, I usually "steal" them from my family's supply lol.

I shop for groceries about twice per month. I usually go in the evenings before my husband gets home from work. I like to make my list and buy enough food to last for two weeks at a time. I really don't care for shopping for anything that much and I like to stock up and make less trips each month for what I need. I will pick up odds and ends along the way from the local store if we should run out of something. If I need other things other than groceries, I will go to another store that same day also and get it over with.

We upgraded our fridge a couple months ago - from an 18 cubic foot to a 26 cubic foot - now I can stock up and buy in bulk and it really has helped save money and time for some things.

I do my shopping whenever I can. lol I tend to go when my husband gets home from work to watch the kids. But many times it ends up being on weekends. And I like to try to get it all done at once. Even though I shop at least 3 stores, sometimes 4 or 5. I'm a coupon user so I have my lists planned out for each store from couponmom.com. So I have to go to all the different stores to get all the great deals. But it is soooo worth it for us. Three of the stores are right near each other and then the other one is a few miles away, so still not bad. You can see why it would be a pain to take the kids. =) But if I do it on a week night then I don't usually get home until after 10pm, which isn't fun but what can ya do?!

wow you are really organized! That's great though that you can plan it all out so well -- you must get some good savings.

Walking tones the lower body. If you take the stairs in a shopping centre or department store (instead of lazing out on the escalator or elevator), the extra effort will also help tone your legs and bum.

We are paid ever two weeks so we shop every two weeks. Usually late on the weekend. We also pick up milk or some other needed item only throughout the week. You have it great to be able to do this on a Friday afternoon to free up your time on the weekend and save a the effort of running about town. We live out in the country so it is a trip into town for us. We try to take care of some other errands at the time. We do 2 weeks worth of shopping in one trip.

That's smart to combine what you need to do in one trip.
I live out in the country too, so it's a 25-30 minute ride one way and 20 minutes another to get to a real grocery store.

I usually wind up making several trips a week in spite of my efforts not to. My grocery store opens every day at 6:00 AM and I like to shop before 8:00 AM. It's nice and quiet. The shelves have just been restocked. Also, I can use the automated check out in peace then. I don't like using it later because there is usually a line and I feel like I'm being hurried along. (We have both automated and real people cashiers but the automated is becoming very popular.)

how does the automated work for you?
Do you have to scan and bag your own?
Does the machine alert you if you forget to put something up or what happens if it won't scan?

me & my husband go shopping for grocery on saturdays afternoon or sometimes sundays morning . . . we always get fresh vegetables , fruits , milk & yogurt that will be enough also for us on a week time . we can buy meat or seafoods in bulk then cook them immediately & freeze so that we can just reheat them for any meal of the day to go faster & less hassle.

Since I'm a single parent with a full-time plus job, I do my grocery shopping fast!! I usually go out on my lunch hour. I know that probably sounds crazy!! Every once in a while, I run quickly to pick up a few things on a weekend. :)

I like to do it during the weekdays in the mornings where there are no crowds. I try to limit grocery shopping to every 2 weeks. Sometimes I forget to pick up something inspite of me making a shopping list every time so I might need to just run in a store to pick up a couple of items in between.

Mine is almost daily routine. I buy milk, bread, meat/ chicken daily. For the frozen stuff we buy only once a month.
I go to shop for groceries after I take my daughter to school around 8.30 am. And the groceries shops open daily from 8 am. So, I can just relax and take my time to buy anything thing I need daily until it is time to pick up my daughter from school.

That's nice you have some time to wander after you drop your daughter off at school. Sometimes it is nice to shop daily for the small things so they are always fresh.

We do our grocery shopping usually on a Sunday evening. It's the quietest time in the store. We used to go on a Saturday afternoon, but I started suffering Cart Rage with all the ignoramuses who blocked the aisles and blatantly ignored me when I practically yelled "excuse me!" in their ears.
My partner figured it would be better to change our day when I finally blew my top one Saturday Afternoon and rammed the cart into the backside of a woman who ignored me three times as I politely said "Excuse me" three times, getting louder each time. When I rammed the cart into her rear end, she spun round and looked right at me. I looked right back and said "I said excuse me three times, it's not my fault you're either deaf or ignorant!" She moved to one side and I stalked past with my partner following closely on my heels, trying his best to smother his laughter.
We do have to call for Bread and Milk throughout the week. It's something that doesn't last 2 minutes in our house lol.
