Please help - details on money transfer through paypal

Is it necessary to add our credit card details to our paypal account to receive money? I thought it was needed to make only payments when we purchase something. We can receive ti through cheque or it can be transfered to our bank account, right? I stay in India. What is the procedure?

In UK it can be transfered onto my bank account. I'm not sure about other countries though. I heard from another post some countries paypal offer a debit card with your funds on it so you can spend it but I'm not too sure about this, you should read the paypal site carefully and see what it is in your country.

I transfer my PayPal funds in and out of my checking account. No credit card necessary. I'm a verified PayPal buyer and merchant.

For Indians, as stated already, you need $150 balance and a verified paypal account to withdraw fund. For verification you can send your bank details to Paypal.
