I am a sub teacher and in the schools every day. Yesterday we had to send two ids home for wearing clother that were revealing. I don't teach at the high school. I am talking third graders. One of the mothers came up to pick her child up and said "why did you wear that?" I couldn't help but think Why did you let her. If I can see your pantys you shoudn't be wearing it.I don't understand why her mother would have even bought it.

you would think being third graders, the mom would have known what the child wore, but maybe she was at work already and dad or sitter let the child out like that? i also know i myself once in high school back in the stone age, hiked up my skirt or knew kids who took clothes with them to change into. sooo, it should be the parents responsibiblity, but they don't always know until someone brings it to their attention.

I swear, some of the parents just don't care.... Some of the kids I see wearing revealing clothes are hand-me-downs from their moms!!! They dress like hookers sometimes themselves! So why would they care if their kids dress that way.
Our school has a pretty tough dress code, so we haven't had to worry about too many kids being sent home. They know they'll be sent home and it's not worth the effort, so they do dress the way they are supposed to.

That is why our school system put in a uniform policy. The teachers were spending to much time trying to enforce a dress code that parents seemed to have no clue about. It was just simpler for them to say wear this or go home.I can not understand parents that walk around in a fog never knowing what is going on around them and never knowing what is going on with their children.

There is a girl in my pre-k class that wears halter tops and they don't cover her belly. She also wears short skirts too that barely cover her butt.
I know her mom, dad, or babysitter that has to see what she goes out of the house in.
Sometimes you have to look at the parents to see how they are dressed too. Kids want to dress just like mom or dad do.
I watch my daughter very closely even for being in pre-k. No hohy mama shorts or shirts that don't cover her belly.

Yes the same thing he wears everyday his school uniform, I have seen far too many boys latly though wearthing that sag to their knees and shirts with offensive writing on them and the young girls are showing intirly too much skin, I do think that something should be done about this starting with the parents, it is up to them to instill the valeus of proper dressing in their children like I have with my sons, if they do not learn this now then they never will and eventualy their children will be making the same mistakes that they did and it will become a never endind continuous cycle.

I have a friend that lets her daughter dress like that. We are very close and I speak my mind with her, when I've commented on what her daughter was wearing she says, "well that's what she wants to wear". I told her she needs to be a mother and stop buying that stuff for her.
We don't have uniforms at our school but they do have a pretty strict dress code. Week before last my highschooler got sent home because of a t-shirt he was wearing. It said, "I got lucky in Texas Hold em" - it's a card game but the school didn't like it. Choice was turn it wrong side out or go home - he hates school anyway so came home.
The sad thing with the young ones is it's the parents responsibility but the kids suffer.

Sometimes kids dress properly in front of their parents, and as soon as they get to school, they go into the bathroom and change their clothing - I know I use to do this when I was younger, maybe not as young as 3rd grade mind you. I would prefer schools to have a uniform so that things like this don't happen.

As I use to work early mornings I would sometimes rely on a babysitter to send my children to school so I wouldn't always know what outfit my child wore to school. Some clothing are clothes that the child has outgrown and the parent hasn't removed from the childs pile of clothes to wear. My child has never been sent home for wearing improper clothes but I do know that there have been children from their classes sent home because of wearing shirts that are too short. My children do the arms up test. If they can raise their arms up in the air and see their bellybutton then the shirt is too small. They don't wear any pants that are half way down their behinds because I think that that style isn't appropriate.
