I won't get annoyed the first time they call. Now if they call back and just hang up after hearing they got me again, then I get really mad!

if they hanged up then i will definitely cannot control my temper too. but remember, we dont need to stress ourselves. maybe next time it happened again, i'll just ignore it and get used into it since they keep on calling.

I dont get many wrong number calls but if I do, I usually just say, sorry wriong number.
I do however get a bit pissed off, if they continue to call my number after telling them that who ever they are looking for, isnt here and doesnt own the phone number. They must have a wring digit in the number.

the reason i asked is because i usually got a wrong number call and looking for one person i don't even know. i just assume this phone number given to me is that person's old number but i got pissed-off when the caller is keep on dialling the number eventhough i told them the person is not living here.

I know, I think some people just do it to annoy people when they have nothing better to do.

I don't get many wrong number calls from last months, but if I do, I often say, so sorry they make wrong number.
They still ask where it is. Who are you? I said wrong number they made, it is a village where I am now. They said sorry.
They rang back again, they asked the same stupid question. Waste time.

i encountered such wrong number callers, too. and those people are annoying. even if you explain to them that they did dial the wrong number, instead of hanging up and saying sorry, they even suspect that you are just hiding the person they are looking for.

I usually am polite and tell them they have reached the wrong number. If the person is really nice I will ask them what number they were trying to dial and let them know which one they dialed in error. It takes a few seconds and it helps somebody out at the same time.

i tell them simply "sorry u have dialled wrong number" or "i think u r talking on a wrong number"!:) there r some who would keep calling back though being corrected, it do makes me mad but i don't show it to them and always handle them with patience. i think those persons who enjoy annoying others usually get encouraged if u show ur madness at them so it's better if u say calmly and patiently it's a wrong number!!

I dont actually mind wrong numbers, it happens (and even i have managed to dial the same wrong number twice before)
If anything its a nice change to the constant sales calls we get. I hardly answer the house phone anymore because of them.

that must be the result of it, having hardly answers the calls. like what i do. i let other in the house to answer it eventhough i am near the phone.

I do not get mad at someone for dailing a wrong number. After all, everyone makes mistakes. I also sometimes punch in the wrong number when calling someone.

i admit i also dialled a wrong number sometimes but once i was informed i got the wrong number i never dialled it again. at first, we are patient to tell them they mistakenly ring up others phone but if they keep on calling oh well..my day turns annoyed.

I'm always polite to people who get my number by mistake. At one time our number was only one number off from another family who's kids went to school with mine. We were always getting each other's calls. One time a doctor's office called for the other family and left a message on our answering machine. My kids thought I was crazy when I called the family and relayed the message. They didn't think I was crazy when a week later the other family did the same for us.
I don't think people call wrong numbers on purpose so don't see any reason to be rude.

Hi faith, thanks for the words.. i promised to be more patient when this happens again though i feel this caller makes it intentional and not dialing my number by mistake.

it is part of good telephone ethics not to get mad easily when you got a wrong number. but if the caller calls again asking the same person for 3x, i think this "wrong number" thing is intentional. thing to do? if you see the number in the caller ID, dont mind it.

of course i just tell the caller in a very nice way that he/she dialed the wrong number. but there are some who really insisted that the number that they are calling is not a wrong number. so i asked them what is the number they are calling and some just banged the phone and there are some who says sorry for dialing the wrong one.

Yes, I am patient. I would just be calm and say that its a wrong number.

I don't get upset about a wrong number, unless they keep dialing the same wrong number. I usually tell them "Sorry, I think you have the wrong number." If they ask what my number is, I ask them what number they were dialing. If it isn't the same as mine I tell them they dialed wrong. I don't give them my number. If the number is the same as mine I tell them that there is nobody here by the name they asked for and hang up.
Most people are polite and apologize. It is such a little thing it isn't worth wasting emotional energy on it.

I am nice about it and tell them they have the wrong number now if they keep calling back even after i have made it plain that my number is different from the one they are calling then i tend to start getting a little upset, 4 AM may be another story all together though LOL

no. i don't get mad. but they are getting mad after talking to me..lol
i always ask them what number they meant to call..
and they always answer which is an idiotic thing to do if you thing about it..
and then i ask them if i can be of any help in solving their problem..this is the part where they get mad and usually hang up the phone..now you understand why you should not give the phone number you meant to call if being asked..you never know how is on the other line..and what he'll do next..lol

usually i would reply that they have got the wrong number. but there was once when this guy dialled my cell and asked for a gal by the name of v. he hung up after i told him he's got the wrong number but he didnt get it and dialled again...this time even after midnight, 5-6 times. I felt i had enough and i asked him who that gal was to him. he said was his gf. i was so fed up at that point of time that i told him that V was out with another man. he didnt call again after that. i just wanted to teach him a lesson. next morning i called him to tell him that i'm just kidding and irritated thats y i lied to him. i guess he got mad and he slammed down then phone and never called again :P
