Yes, I smoke. I did stop for six and a half years but went back to it a couple of years ago.
I like to smoke but at times I wonder why I ever took it up again. Perhaps now is the time to quit for good. I'm thinking about it.
Brightest Blessings.

I have been smoking for years. I always said that I could quit whenever I get good and ready to do so. I really do not want to quit smoking is my main problem for still smoking. I do think that I have become addicted to nicotine also. I like to smoke in my leisure time. I think maybe your sister enjoys smoking and she may be addicted to nicotine as well. She will quit when she tells herself to do so. I just haven't gotten to where I want to quit smoking yet, but I know it will not be an easy decision for me.

I don't really know how that works. I have tried smoking and found it to be something I don't care for, I once smoked for about 2 weeks but left it as easy as I started. I know a lot of people that are hooked on smoking. Though it never really did anything for me. I don't smoke now, it was just an experimental faze a few years back but I think I'm better of without for many reasons one being less money out of my pocket as some people go through more then one pack a day!

PS I've heard that it's hard to stop smoking for a lot of people as it causes an imbalance in a chemical area of the brain. Not sure how that works though, I watched a documentary on it, but I had something else on another channel I was watching so just had a quick glance at it!

I smoked all through high school, but quit for good when I decided to become a competitive runner at 24 years old.
That was 34 years ago. It was the hardest thing I ever did and probably one of the smartest things as well.
I hope your sister can quit. Ultimately, no good can come from it.
The secret to quitting seems to be that if smoking is getting in the way of something you want, then you will quit.
For instance, say she meets a guy she is just crazy about and he is an athlete and never smokes. She realizes that it will never work for them unless she quits. That is what I mean.
For some people, a doctor has to tell them that they are dying from smoking and then they will quit.
Everyone has their own reason for not stopping or stopping.

i am a non-smoker. i just don't like the idea of smoking. won't do me anything but harm my health.
it's really hard to quit smoking because we all know it's truly addicted. however, just like my boyfriend, after smoking for 17 years had finally stopped smoking. i think it requires too much perseverance to give it up. but if one's really willing to do it, he/she can really give up smoking.

i could really understand your sister and how she feels, i am a smokers and i tried twice to quitting but not with big results, the smoke is a really bad addiction, phisycal and psicological, hard to beat by yourself, it needs a great strongness to fight with this addiction, maybe the help of a doctor can be useful

Im part of the smokers club too. Somedays i will smoke only 3 (usually when im at work all day) and other days i can get through 30. It's shocking the amount of money i spend on them. I really hope i manage the strength to quit someday soon.

Hi chloe, try to smoke a little less each passing by and soon you'll get over. I personally don't know how it feels then but at the end of the day we should take care of our health.

I am lucky that I never even tried it. Something which connects direct to our Blood or Brain is very difficult to get rid off.

once you get addicted to anything, your body gets habituated and gets stored in the sub-concious brain.
and you cant avoid it.

Ironically, I'm the only one in the family who doesn't smoke. I don't know why, I've never had the compulsion to do that. Maybe because I know that I'm astmatic (although there are a lot of smokers who suffer the same thing. lol.)
I really don't know why it's so hard for people to stop smoking. I guess, aside from the nicotine which makes them addictive, smoking also keeps the mind off of things. So I think it's more of a psychological reason why people can't quit. It becomes a necessity or an outlet for something. Well, that's what I heard anyway... I could be wrong. =)
