Do you ever use coupons for food/items? Do you ever realize that een htough the coupon takes away SOME money, you usually end up buying stuff you would never buy before, in quanities you would not normally buy. Do you people REALLY save money or do they end up spending more money just to save a couple cents on a box of mashed potatoes or something?

I used to think it was funny that my mom would use coupons for buying stuff and save coupons. But you know now that I have kids and your on a budget you tend to use the coupons.I use them now because it saves money.Especially the coupons for diapers and pull ups.I am now a coupon user.

does it EALLY save money though? i mean if you buygeneric brands it costs less...most coupons are for brand name products...and if you use the coupon...the final price is still higher than the generic price...

I only use coupons occasionally, and then only for things I generally buy but a different brand. However, opften thebrand thecoupon is for still costs less than theregular item, or isn't as good quality. If there is a get one free coupon, I probably buy the item, and give it to the food bank or other charity

i can understand the buy one get one free coupons...those are a good deal...but when it is like 35 cents off something that costs 3.00...and the generic brand costs half the price..are you really saving money?

The best way to use coupons is to watch for when the item goes on sale. Then use the coupon in addition to the sale price. THat saves you the most money. In some cases, I do agree, the generic brand is cheeper, and in that case i price compare the brand name price minus coupon compared to generic price. I buy whichever is cheeper. Lots of grocery stores do double or triple coupons (usually up to $1.00 savings total), which is a great time to use coupons. When I am skimming the coupon section of the paper, I only cut out those that are for items I normally use anyway, becasue like you said, if you would not normally buy it, you arent saving any money!!!

i have ample of coupons given from variety of store..and most of them from fastfoods. i dont use them 1st because of the fact that i dont usually bring it. i always forget to bring them with me. you are right that sometimes you will just be forced to buy something you really dont like just for the sake of getting discounts.. but albeit of that fact, we can also save some amount of our money.

I used to use coupons all the time, but I've found that they are often not worth it. It seems that in order for a coupon to be valid you have to buy multiple quantities of the same product. I suppose this is helpful if you have a large family or if you want to stock up...but if you are only shopping for yourself, then it tends to result in spending more money by buying more of something that is not necessary. I would rather have a coupon for 50 cents off of one of something, then $1.00 off of two. Or even if the coupon was worth less- 35 cents off of one of something rather than $1.00 off of two- I would definitely be more apt to use it...
