Ah, my favorite topic!!! Now that I have switched from Netflix to Blockbuster.com- I can't help raving about it! With Netflix when I lived in a different state I got the new ones in the mail pretty fast but when I moved here the turnaround time was too long. I live 5 minutes from a Blockbuster, so being able to turn in my envelope there immediately for a movie, and get credit is awesome. I get a lot more movies a month with Blockbuster.com . They do the free trial- I think you owe it to yourself to try it out!!! And Blockbuster is paying me to say that. I seriously love them now. Shoot all the money that Blockbuster, Hollywood Video and I can't remember the name of the other company used to make off of me in late fees- its about time I get my money's worth!!!

Hehe, I meant to say Blockbuster is NOT paying me. Its what I get for thinking faster than I can type, and then not checking my work before I hit Post Comment.

OK-- this is a great discussion.. My feeling is Blockbuster-- Now let me tell you why: Blockbuster has this new plan-- Same cost- no changes needed if you're already a member- You pay monthly-- You can choose 1,2 or 3 movies at a time- of course price varies. With each membership you also get free in store rentals (you print them off the computer). Ok so here is why blockbuster is better- They now let you take the movies you get in the mail (online) into the blockbuster stores to return.. In return for dropping them off in store-- You swap out the online movie for a FREE in store rental. The store then sends out the online movie and Blockbuster online ships your next one. So you get the online movies plus free in store rentals with each online one. You really are never without a movie- How many times do you get your movies in the mail and your kids are like "I wanted this one" or they have friends over and want a movie-- It's easy and Free now- Just pop into the local Blockbuster and exchange it free! Of course this is only better if you have a Blockbuster near you! Netflix doesn't offer this- Just all mail back on online rentals.

Netflix logo - Netflix - rent movies online and through the mail
Years ago we rented from Blockbuster all the time. But they had very little DVD's back then. There was a Hollywood Video across the street and they had a much larger selection of DVDs. So we started going there. Then when we moved to 25 minutes from Hollywood Video we decieded to give Walmart through the mail rentals a try considering we had a hard time getting the movies back on time. Walmart was very slow at processing their movies so we stepped up to Netflix (and right after that Walmart sold all their stuff to Netflix). They have an increidable turn around! We've been really satisfied with Netflix. About a month ago though I was trying for a fee Wii and I choose Blockbuster as one of the sponsers you have to choose. And in one months time we got a total of 7 movies. And Netflix we got about 3 times that many. They're just so slow at processing. The whole in store gimic they've got makes so difference to us because by the time they open in the morning we are well at home, usuallly eating dinner. Then we go to bed and go to work. Driving 25 minutes for a movie is nuts. That's why we did the through the mail renting to begin with. So anyway...I'm boycotting Blockbuster. I don't blame Weinstein (manly because I love most of the movies he puts out) cause he just wants to make money.

I think Blockbuster is definitely the better service, as it has a comparable price and you're also able to pick up movies at a retail location.

I've never used netflix, but am very happy with Blockbuster. The free movies I get when I return the ones mailed to me to the store is great. Plus they send a coupon for a free movie each month. There are different plans. Try the one that suits you best.
