I am not for sure when the next season starts, but I can't wait :). I wish Sam would have won also. I was NOT a Marcel fan, so I was glad that he didn't win. I know Mikey didn't cook as good as the others, but I loved him on the show...he was so...mellow...LOL.

I know, I just shook my head...LOL. I also liked Elian but just not as much as Sam. I thought Betty was good too. I think I liked her a lot because of the heck she gave Marcel, though.

I don't know when the next one starts, but if you have a TiVO, just program it in and you won't have to worry! Top Design is pretty good too...

I really didn't like Elian. He wasn't creative enough for me. He annoyed me with his spanish style food. I think Elia and Marcel should of been the last ones to compete. I don't know when the next season will start but I am looking forward to it.

Yes everything Eilan made had the same spices. Saffron rice pudding, saffron salmon, saffron brie jule, saffron turkey fries, saffron. WTF the judges would have told anyone else they have to stop using the same spices. I couldn't believe it wasn't Sam & Markel in the end. I pronounce it like it is spelled not Marcel. =)

I did not want Ilan Hall to win Top Chef. I liked Marcel much better, but did not think he was good enough to win. However, Marcel did try new things and Ilan seemed to just cook recipes from Casa Mono (the Spanish restaurant where he worked). I thought Sam was probably the best chef by far. He was reliable and had the most training, it seemed. I was shocked when they kicked him off. I think the producers wanted the drama of a Ilan/Marcel final. Also, I think he was too much like Harold (the first season's winner). I just rewatched the first season and the chef's were so much better. I hope next season they go for good chefs and not just for good tv characters.

I am going through Top Chef withdrawal! I really wanted Sam to win, too. I loved his whole demeanor throughout the show. He always seemed to be listening. I was impressed that during their hiatus, he worked in a restaurant to learn, and he offered to wash dishes in exchange of learning pastry. I was totally shocked (and amused) when he flipped out on Marcel in the restaurant supply store.
I was surprised that Marcel got as far as he did, especially with his wacky chemistry set and foams on top of everything. I think the judges kept him on for dramatic effect. There wouldn't have been much drama if they had eliminated him instead of Ilia.
I liked Elian, but I didn't think he was deserving of the title. I was just glad that he won over Marcel. It also seemed that near the end, Elan and Ilia had something going on. Yet in one of the earlier shows, Elan did mention a girlfriend.
Regardless of cooking ability, who was your favorite Top Chef contestant?
