How many of you have heard about Gordie, the lab, that attacked a 9 yr old boy in Colorado? Do you think that Gordie just snapped or do you think that he was mistreated to attack a family member he slept with every night. I honestly think that the boy had to have done something to the dog that was horrible that the dog sensed it was going to happen again.

I read about that and 1st thing that came to mind was what did the boy do to the dog that made it attack him? I had a Lab (rest his soul) who, as a pup, was constantly teased by a certain boy in our trailer park. Every day he would cut thru our yard to the bus stop and stand just out of reach of our puppy, who was tied up, and persistently tease him. Flash forward a few years to a certain night while we were out, Shady flew through a glass window in an attempt to attack the very same boy who 'just happened' to walk by the window and teased him yet again. Neighbors witnessed what he did and came right over when we got home and told us what happened. Shady had both front paws all cut up from the glass, therefore, blood all over the carpet and floors. Next day, the boy had the nerve to come over and accuse our dog of attacking him for no reason. I hog-tied the punk and called the police. They came out and I told them what the boy did every day for 2 yrs to our dog and that our dog finally snapped and tried to retaliate the night b4. The boy ended up in juvie cause other ppl came forward then and told about all the problems they had with the same boy. Shady was a very good-natured dog who loved everyone BUT that boy. Always had a lick and tail wag for e1 who walked past our yard with the exception of THAT boy. That is why I really believe the boy did something pretty bad to Gordie for him to attack the boy like he did.

Amen! I have a lab now and he is the sweetest thing. He has only attacked our wiener dog, because he is constantly getting "too friendly". My lab is very stupid. He hates water, thinks he is a lap dog and can't fetch. I think he is a poodle in a lab disquise. The boy had to do something to Gordie that the mom didn't know about to make him attack the child.
