About pirate software.

So...what do you think about pirate software?Do you think that owning it is a crime or stealing or something like that?

hi, i'm karthik from India.Having pirated soffware is a crime because it is almost equal to stealing of one's technique and technology.But how can people in poor countries afford to buy soffwares of few hundred dollars?

this may sound absurd but instead of buying, why not creating one? there's a lot of university offering IT courses but most of it teaches the student to be a software user rather than software creator. it will take a lot of effort to change this but if we instill this kind of mentality right from the beginning, maybe things will change.

Exactly, only selling software is a crime.

selling pirate software is a crime but we don't hav any other option than this..original cd's are too costly....

Using a pirated software is a crime ALWAYS! No matter whether you are a student or a professional.Well, but we don't HAVE any option rather than to use pirated because the original softwares are DAMMN expensive. Even the new vista costs 150$ and that 4,500 units in India. But pirated Vista comes just at mere 100 units. Software manufacturing companies need to decrease prices in order to set their foot properly in the market.
