Tell me about teaching English in Korea, please!

I am thinking seriously about teaching English in Korea, where I understand some 3,000 private English schools, or hagwons, seek teachers on an ongoing basis. If any Mylotians are Korean and know of how this process works, please let me know. If you have ever taught English in Korea or anywhere overseas, I would appreciate any feedback you might have. Thank you and I appreciate any and all comments or responses on this topic!

One of my sons friends taught in Korea. He finished his first contract and was going to come back home to Canada, but they asked him to stay. He said he would stay if he could construct his own teaching program. They said he could so he stayed. From what I understand he found it very lonely at times because lets face it, you are in a foreign country far from your friends and family. It is something that one must consider.

I don't have any experience, but I was always interested, too. You can look on http://www.craigslist.org, I always see them posting things like that on there about teaching English. It amazes me that they don't require a teaching degree, you know? Have a nice day. Pablo
