At the moment I have potatoes, Italian tomatoes, lettuce, and strawberries. I'm not very experienced in the garden but the tomoatoes and strawberries seem to be doing really well! I can't really get the poptatoes growing but I think they're more a winter vegetable. (it's summer here in OZ). I really enjoy growing my own veggies and the fact that they're not sprayed with pesticide makes me happy:-) What's growing in your veggie garden?

I would guess it depends on where you are and what your "winter" Vs " summer" temps consist of. Try mulching your potatos. Get some compost, leaves whatever and cover the plants up. It will help them grow.

Do you think grass clippings left over from the mower will be good to cover the potatoes with?

Well.. in late spring (its still winter here in Ohio) our garden will start to go in. Tomatos, potatoes, corn, pumpkins, onions, garlic, butternut squash, some beans, maybe some carrots.. that will all go into our garden.

It is so cold here in Chicago (0 C). I wish I can start gardening. I have organic strawberries in my garden. I am not planing to have anything else this summer.

Oh I am so envious! It is still much too cold here for beginning our gardens. (Eastern United States) I will certainly be starting some seedlings indoors soon though! I will begin with lettuce since it likes cool weather, and some brocolli. The minute spring hits I will come in with tomatos and green peppers, yellow peppers, zucchini and squash! Like you, I love knowing that I am not eating pesticides!

At present, I am growing the following vegetables in my backyard garden: "beef tomatoes", bitter melon (ampalaya), bell pepper and spinach. I am also planning to grow eggplants and okra. I live in the Philippines and our place is very conducive to growing vegetables. I am also not using pesticides nor fertilizers and grow my crops organically. I am trying to learn bio-intensive gardening.
