I was fortunate enough to live through Hurricane Katrina.Other places I have lived since the hurricane, I alway's get asked all the time which one would I rather go through a hurricane, or a tornado.I have been through both pretty serious storm's(natural disaster's follow me).I have to say I would rather a hurricane, because you have time to plan.Tornado's just drop down unexpected, and seem to take more live's than hurricane's. I'm curious if other's agree with me.

I agree with you. I was in Cuba the year Hurricane Michelle hit full force. You are relatively safe as long as you stay inside as there is a lot of debris flying around outside that could cause some serious damage. Tornadoes would be great to see from a distance. But that's about it.

It seems from what I've been seeing on TV that both can be very destructive and devastating. I think that tornadoes would be scarier, though, because they are more unexpected and unpredictable in their paths. Even when they forecast a tornado warning, there is no way to predict accurately where one will hit and where it will go. They tend to bounce around and destroy everything wherever they touch down. I have never been in either, so I'm not speaking from personal experience, but you're right that hurricanes are easier to predict and plan for. The key is getting people who are in the path of a hurricane to take the warnings seriously and evacuate, as we have seen so many times before. My prayers are with all of the Katrina victims as well as the victims of the recent tornadoes in Alabama and the Midwest.
