With the post office, you have to keep on them. You can't just sit around and wait for them to call you, you need to contact them. If you made a claim, it *may* still be processing, I doubt it. You need to follow up. However, before you going off trying to sue someone, you have to make sure the package was actually sent you and you didn't get scammed by someone on ebay.

I don't like to upset you but I am so sure your problem doesn't lie with the post office. I've bought from Ebay as well. I know there is buyer protection with pay Pal. I had a very long wait once too and then the seller was going on about our mail sevice being slow. I Emailed and told the seller I was in contact with our Post Master and I need to get the proof from you when it was mailed, please give me a tracking number and the date you mailed it. A couple days later I got the number and within another week my parcel arrived. I don't think I had a dishonest seller either, I think because the seller did have lots of other items i think the seller was waiting to mail several parcels at onr time therefore I had to wait. Not all sellers ship as soon as they get paid, then other times they ship immediately. Hope this helps kingzerox

I think your problem is more with the seller then with the post office. I would file a complant with ebay on the seller.

I can't say that I have ever had the USPS lose a package on me that I know of. You should always purchase shipping insurance when you are ordering something expensive from eBay, to cover yourself in this type of situation. Most sellers have a disclamier saying they are not responsible for the package once they mail it (but they should be able to provide proof that they mailed it, too)
Honestly, though I probably would have asked for it to be shipped UPS, they are a bit more reliable and accountable for this type of thing. But, hindsight is 20/20, and that doesn't help you much right now, does it?
So, I would recommend going down to the PO and talking to someone face-to-face (try to go when they aren't busy and be polite, they get irate people all the time, they will tune you out in a heartbeat if you go in acting all pissy.). Also, do you have a reciept or tracking # from the seller? I imagine he/she would have put delivery confirmation on such a package to protect themselves, which gives you a tracking # as well. Any paperwork you can take to the PO will help your case.
As a last resort, if you paid with PayPal, I think there is a sort of buyer protection included in that, you can check into that on their website.
Good Luck!
