I am in search of a Tried and True Ceviche recipe. My father used to make it when I was a kid, and the thought of it makes my nose tingle and mouth water, I can taste it for a moment, with my memory - I would really like to taste it with my mouth! I remember dad would have to wear gloves or the peppers and lime would burn his skin. it was soooo good. Sometimes he made it with White Fish (usually) and sometimes we ate it with Shrimp. Please share your ceviche recipes with me! thanks!

Sorry, I've never heard of this. It sounds like it could be a sauce? And a hot one, lol. I don't eat a lot of fish but this sounds interesting.

It is a fish salad, I remember going to the fish market and getting a lot of white fish. The fish is not cooked when you make the salad but the combination of hot peppers (probably habeneros) and lime juice that it marinaded in would actually cook the fish. Somehow it did not burn my mouth as a child, maybe the two neutralized eachother, heh.

I heard about Deviche, but never tried it. I do have an old Mexican cookbook, but I cannot find it right now. I did find a page on the net with a whole lot of them, but I do not know what kind your father made. http://www.angelfire.com/tx/CZAngelsSpace/CevicheRecipes.html . Maybe one of these is similar to the one your father made.

Looks like you were provided with a pretty good recipe. I made this a couple months ago with shrimp and it turned out pretty good. I used lime juice from about 7 limes, some white distilled vinegar, salt, pepper, onions, and raw shrimp (de-veined). I put everything in the fridge overnight and it turned out great in the morning. Hope that helps :-)
