The Dog with the Long, Stringy Poo!

This is a true story of my husbands dog (now deceased). One day Dave came home from work. He noticed that his dog, who was out the back, was acting oddly. He seemed to be trailing something behind him, and he kept looking around to try and see his backside. Out raced to Dave to check on his dog. Unknown to Dave, earlier that day his neighbours had been playing cricket, and had hit the ball accidently over the fence. Apparently the dog had taken great delight in chewing up the cricket ball. As it is made of string wound tightly together, this was hard to chew, so the dog just swallowed it. What Dave found, was an enormous length of stringy poo hanging out of his dogs bottom. It was a knotty, bubbly kind of poo, where his bowel contents had clung to the string. It was metres and metres long and just trailed from the dogs bottom. The dog looked most unhappy. Dave knew better than to pull it out, so he rang the vet. The vet advised him not to make any attempt to extract it, but to just let nature take it's course. Over a few days the entire length of stringy poo came out, and the dog was no worse for wear.

That is a great story. Did you keep cutting the string off? When my daughter was less than a year old, I changed her diaper to find a round worm in her diaper!!!!!! I was completely freaked out. LOL! We always tease her that the doctor had us de-worm her just like a dog! Kelly

How did the baby get a round worm? I'm just curious. I know what it is, I think, I just wondered how the baby developed something that produced the worm.

Holy crap. NO pun intended. Thankfully your husband had the sense enough to call the vet. There are many I am sure that would just pull it out. Glad to hear that your doggy is okay from the incident.

You painted a great mental picture. I could just see the poor guy with his cricket souvenir he was lucky it dissolved so that he was able to poop it out.

I once read a story about a girl who was out in the park walking her dog which had a habit of eating underwear and when it went to the toilet half a bra came out. She apparently had to help the dog by pulling it and loads of people were watching, that must have been emabarassing.

poor dog. the oddest thing like that which happened to one of my dogs when he was younger and I haven't a clue how he did it. but one day when he had been in the garden I found he must have eaten one of my sons socks as it had come out of him almost intact. he has a habit when yu come home of picking things up when he comes to greet yu and my sons socks seem to be favourite for this and one day he must have managed to eat one or at least chew it up and swallow it. I'm still amazed.

A sock must have quite a thick substance for your dog to swallow.

Oh, my word! Did that gross you out? I had a dog that would have somewhat stringy poo, but only because a hair was in it. It wasn't as bad as your dog. Man, this is grossing me out. I should not eat breakfast and be on the computer at the same time, should I? : )
