I've never been to Italy, so I'm going to have to answer this question a different way. When I think of Italy, I think of either Rome or Venice. I don't know if either city is representative of the country as a whole, but they are the first to pop into my head.
Of course, when I think of Italy, I most often think of centuries-old farms clinging to hillsides and shaded by olive trees. There may not be such a place, but that's what I like to picture! :D

Uhm.... I don't know.... maybe Roma.... to me it's Roma, and however Roma is my Italian favourite town. I lived in Roma one year and half and I feel a great melancholy when I remember our capital.
But there are a lot of wonderful Italian towns: Venezia, Firenze, Napoli, Roma, Milano, Pisa.... my favourite regione is Sicily, it's a really wild place, I love it, there is a good climate, you can eat very well and people are very nice.

I think I like Milan more!
My favorite band is there!
Plus Grand Theft Auto Italy Mod for Vice City
starts off in rome, but later it gets too dangerous, the police move you away from rome to Milan.
Too many gangs, and Red Coats.
You are a german soldier helping italy from
a tyrant red coat.
I say milan is full of delights.
