How important is it to put Tags on your discussions?

Everytime I get to the add tag page I get stuck. I think they help people find your discussion but with all the other ways do you really need the tags? I've noticed that it's about half and half as far as people putting tags on their discussions? So do you tag your discussions? And if you do how does it help?

I only ever tag the topics which I post. I used to tag my responses but there have been times when myLot was really slow so I decided to try posting them without tags. It helped speed things up a bit so now I never tag responses.

When I started this I tagged everything. But like you said it really seem to make the process slower. I really wish there was a better discription of all of this in the mylot tool bar.

i always put tags on discussions i start, it seems to help people find your discussions and seems to increase the number of responses you get. However, i never tag the discussions i respond to, largely because i cant see the point of it

That's what I was thinking, but once again it seems like one of those subjects that only mylot has the answer to.

The tags are like a bonus. You don't need them but it doesn't hurt.
