It's hard to say exactly what breed of cat to get. But I would definitely recommend that you adopt from a shelter. There are so many cats that need homes. I have 3 young females and I have adopted all of them. They are all just ordinary cats, no special breed and all of them are loving and just so nice to have around. I think once you see the cat for you, you will know it. Good luck.

i didnt know you could choose a cat. In my experience, cats just turn up, im absolutely convinced an agency sends them round, In reality feel a cat chooses you

That is so very true. I have said that about all of the cats that I've ever had. Good point!!

Your best bet is to surprise her and take her to either a pet store or an animal shelterthat has cats andlet her pick one out herself. That way you are still getting it for her but she can pick it out herself and get one that she really wants.

Your best bet is to visit an animal shelter and choose a cat or kitten for your girlfriend. At the shelter, you will have an opportunity to view a number of cats, choose one to adopt, and pay a nominal fee for the animal's shots, spaying, etc. Remember to give serious thought to a cat that greets you and allows you to pet and hold it. That cat, regardless of its breed, will be the best. With love and care, the cat will give you companionship and unconditional love.

I have 4 cats, 3 different breeds. I will say that I dont agree with a persian being the best cat to get. I have a mix and he certainly isnt a lap cat! I think you need to take a trip to the local animal shelter together and visit with the kittens to see which one steals your heart.. thats the best way to pick. Once you love em and they start to grow up, they may not be much of a lap cat then.. we've had cuddly kittens that have turned into independant cats, and independant kittens that have turned into very cuddly cats..

There are many different breeds of cats each with their unique traits. But pedigree cats are rather expensive. I have never had a pedigree cat. I have always gone to my local pound and rescued a mixed variety cat and they have always made lovely pets.

cats have so many breeds it's not even funny. Does she like long fur or short? Does she like animals with attitude, or placid lay around types? Does she like kittens or already trained, easy to care for pets? Does she like pretty showy animals, or unique one-of-a-kind animals? These are all things to consider and discuss with her.
